Immerse yourself in the dramatic scenery at this clifftop cottage, 2 miles from Worth Matravers, on Dorset’s Isle of Purbeck. Gaze out across the Jurassic coastline from the four-bedroom cottage at St Alban’s Head, which sleeps six guests and welcomes two dogs. Wander down to pretty Chapman’s Pool, where strong swimmers can snorkel in the sea. Drive 5 miles into Swanage to spend time on the sandy beach and swim in child-friendly waters.
Arrive to discover sea views from many of the rooms here. Choose between two lounges, both with open fires and one with a TV. Find the kitchen features an AGA oven, hob, microwave, air fryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and washing machine. Cook delicious meals then pull a chair up to the table. Discover there is a WC downstairs, while the family bathroom is on the first floor, together with the bedrooms, all of which have far-reaching views. One of these is a king-size bedroom, with a wood burner; then there are two double rooms and a twin. Sit outside to soak up the stunning scenery. Play with the children on the grass but be aware there is an unsecured gate opening on to the clifftop. Find parking for three cars at the property. This cottage is accessed via a 1.5-mile-long, unmade track, which is unsuitable for vehicles with low ground clearance.
Enjoy the clear waters at Chapman’s Pool, about 1 mile from the cottage. Pick up the South West Coast Path and walk 5 miles along the clifftops to Kimmeridge Bay, also known for its clear waters and snorkelling. See if you can spot puffins as you go. Visit Corfe Castle, 5 miles from the cottage, to visit the historic ruins.
