Personal Background

We holidayed in Dorset for 20 years before coming to live in this intensely beautiful county. We started by renting out a cottage attached to our house and three local cottage owners asked if we could take on theirs as well. Many years on and all three are still with us, so we must be doing something right.

We keep our relationship with owners cordial and friendly, yet business-like. Our eldest son, Jeremy joined us in 2006 and our youngest son Hamish has also recently joined the business, we are confident that they will continue its steady growth.

Loyal Dorset Staff

We have a highly specific type of holiday to sell and we offer it with a conviction that can only be done by local people. All our staff live nearby, know the county intimately and most have seen all the properties; the very opposite of a know-nothing call centre!

They spend long periods on the telephone establishing what the enquirer really wants, skilfully matching that to our availability. We have a low staff turnover and they are a sales team of whom any owner can be very proud. Gradually they get to know all owners and a good individual rapport builds up.

Over the years we have taken on more properties. But this has not been achieved through abandoning our focus. In fact quite the opposite. Instead we tightened our requirements to characterful, beamy cottages or conversions of old buildings in the traditional villages within 10 miles of Dorsets spectacular coastline. We can thus appeal to holidaymakers who want Dorsets rural life and its stunning sea and landscapes to be a fundamental part of their stay.

This is the strength of our appeal.
