Coasteering on the Dorset Coast

With the weather finally looking more like summer (long may it continue!) outdoor activities are back on the agenda. Land and Wave have been posting some amazing Coasteering pics on their FB page so we decided to find out what it’s all about.

What is Coasteering?

It’s a bit hard to define, but basically it involves moving along a coastline by all or some of the following methods

• Swimming

• Climbing, scrambling, canyoning and sea level traversing (no ropes allowed)

• Jumping and Diving

Check it out…

Why Do It?

Because it’s fun! You get to explore caves, tunnels and plunge pools and jump of cliffs up to 25ft high. Plus it makes a great photo! There’s also Power Coasteering for those who like a challenge.

Take Me Coasteering NOW!

Generally all you need to bring are swimwear and footwear for the water (trainers are best). Your operator will provide you with a wetsuit and other equipment. iCoast lists a number of Dorset Coasteering Operators along with a host of other Coastal Activities. Land and Wave come highly recommended and offer morning, afternoon and evening sessions. Their guides are knowledgeable, the locations (Langton Matravers or Durdle Door) stunning, and the prices reasonable. They also cater to Stag and Hen Groups.

NB: Coasteering is the best hangover cure ever!
