Get away and spend New Year in Dorset
New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration and there is no better place to celebrate than the Dorset Coast. However you choose to spend New Year in Dorset, either right at the heart of the action, or spending some relaxing down time, there is a place for you.
Where to go?
Weymouth Fancy Dress
If you would like to enjoy a spectacular fun evening then Weymouth is the place to go. This is probably one of the largest New Year’s Eve celebrations anywhere. With over 20,000 revellers enjoying the festivities throughout the Town Centre and Harbouside, it’s Britain’s biggest New Years Eve Fancy Dress Party! The whole town comes out in fancy dress, with families vying for the prestige of winning the fancy dress competition. Live music can be enjoyed both in and outdoors, and on the stroke of midnight many gather near the jubilee clock to sing Auld Lang Syne, then party the night away.
Bucky Doo Square is the place to be as the clock strikes midnight to welcome in the New Year. Fancy dress is the order of the day with pirates, cross-dressers, super heroes, panto characters and many others from the weird to the wonderful characters, all celebrating New Year together.
What to do?
Fun and Games with family and friends
When you’ve got children, heading out to the larger parties can be a bit daunting. How about a gathering of friends at a larger property, keeping everyone happy? You could even treat the children to a late night (if they can last that long!) and no need to worry about having to leave the party early. Just pop the little ones to bed and carry on with the party. This would be the perfect time to play some New Year Party Games, like Chirades which always generates some laughs.
A romantic getaway
Should the streets and crowds all seem a too bit much, then why not book a romantic break with your partner. Snuggle up in your holiday cottage in front of the fire, taking in a movie with a mug of wonderful Dorset Tea. Perhaps a cheeky bottle of local sparkling wine, to toast in the New Year might be in order, from one of the wonderful vineyards right here in Dorset:
Taking a holiday now is a brilliant way to freshen up and get over the excess of Christmas. It is a certainly a great way to start the New Year.
