Staff tour 2017 day one

Staff tour day one

Every year the team at Dorset Coastal Cottages escape the office for a staff tour. We get a chance to visit the fabulous properties we have around the county. This enables us to both see and get a feel for the properties and their locations. We also get a chance to sample some of the fantastic food from pubs, tea rooms, fish & chip shops and farm shops. The area has been covered, the properties visited and our tummies are now full! So here is the first instalment in a three part series.

Crab Sandwich

Departing from Dorset Coastal Cottages HQ in Wool, we have a lot of properties and a large area to cover. So with us being out for three days, we split the county into three parts.

Jacqui (one of our holiday advisors) commented on the tour:

The first week of November saw our marvellous mystery staff tour. We visit a random selection from the Dorset Coastal Cottages portfolio to learn more about the locations and ambience of the properties. There’s no better way to finish the morning than with a delicious crab sandwich for lunch at ‘The Westbay Inn’, ‘Broadchurch’ country… marvellous!

Day one

On the first day of the staff tour we drove to the west of the county visiting: Beaminster, Waytown, Bradpole, Bothenhampton, West Bay, Shipton Gorge and Walditch. Mandi from our Customer Services Team wrote a poem of her time out in West Dorset:

The Spinning Lodge

Coffee at The Spinning Lodge

West Bay Inn

West Bay Inn

Dorset Coastal Cottages, away-days here we come!
Our staff tours, apparently it had to be done!
9 of us in the bus, in the October sun
First heading down west – what was to come?
Quiet villages, beautiful houses, gardens and more,
Primrose and Spring, the Spinning Lodge we saw!

Next on the list were Whitehouse and Sunnyside
New to our books we couldn’t wait to see inside!

Sandwiches were enjoyed at the Inn in West Bay

Then onwards again on this warm autumn day.

Quaint country Cottages with roses around the door,
Led to modern apartments with lifts to the (Harbour) Penthouse floor!
With views to die for and accommodation to match
Driftwood, The Lookout and Bayridge, we’d be back!

Next was Bowhole, a beautiful thatched place
Then East Court and Hyde Farmhouse Granary, with clever use of space!
But time had run out we were tired and full,
Beautiful Dorset Coastal Cottages – we LOVED them all!!

Stay tuned for the second and third days of our staff tour of Dorset Coastal Cottages.
