CLASSIC THEATRE SHOWS FOR THE SUMMER SEASON
This summer season, the Victorian seaside town of Swanage will see the arrival of famous thespians. Hordern Ciani, the professional Theatre Production Company owned and operated by Katherine Mount and Teresa Barlow, showcase their three famous plays. We can NOW CONFIRM the cast for this summer’s first ever Swanage Rep which features the reprisals of three, world-famous and much loved plays. These include:
- Yes, Prime Minister by Sir Anthony Jay and Jonathan Lynn.
- The Secret Garden stage play written by Dave Simpson.
- The Game’s Afoot by Ken Ludwig.
Known for The King’s Speech, The Navigators, and BBC’s Call the Midwife, veteran of the stage and screen, Charles Armstrong, is one of the cast booked for this summer’s Swanage Rep.
Charles trained at the Drama Studio London and has long since established a close relationship with theatre including performances in Round The Horne Revisited (West End & No 1 Tour), Wake Up and Smell The Coffee(New End), Two Gentlemen Of Verona(R.S.C.), Trelawny Of The Wells & The Soldiers (National Theatre) to name just a few. Charles has often appeared on the BBC Radio Repertory Company. His voiceovers are well-known and linked to several famous brands.
Said Charles Armstrong, “I’m thoroughly looking forward to working on the Swanage rep season this summer and I am really excited about getting started on these three much-loved productions.”
TMA award-winning television, film and theatre actress, Bad Girl’s Nicole Faraday, has appeared in many regular roles in TV including BBC’s Casualty and ITV’s Emmerdale.
She also had 3 successful number one UK national tours as Eva Cassidy in Over The Rainbow.
Nicole is best known for her portrayal of Snowball Merriman in the two series of ITV’s smash-hit, Bad Girls. She is now taking to the stage at the Mowlem Theatre in Swanage for the return of Rep.
Said Nicole Faraday, “I am so thrilled to be part of the inaugural new Swanage rep season- in my hometown! It’s great that I can do what I love, support the revival of rep and also spend the height of summer amongst friends.”
Hollyoaks hunk, Marcus Patrick, best known for his portrayal of Ben Davies in the Channel 4 serial drama Hollyoaks, has since appeared in a number of programmes including Doctors, Echo Beach, Moving Wallpaper, and reality programme 71 Degrees North.
Said Marcus Patrick, “I’m so excited to be working with the rep company this summer in Swanage. Theatre gives the local community a chance to come together and enjoy something special, and that is what we hope to deliver this August.”
Corrie actress, Fiona Gordon, trained at Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre and has been involved in a number of productions including The Harrison Family and Maths Time. Fiona has also worked extensively in theatre and for Radio 4 Drama shows.
Said Fiona Gordon, “I am delighted to be acting in a rep by the sea in one of the loveliest locations in the UK. Rep Theatre makes plays so much more personal for actors, audiences and theatres alike.”
Clare began her comedic and theatrical journey after training at Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. She has since toured UK theatres in her one-women show, presented in radio shows (LBC with Gyles Brandreth) and delivered stand-up comedies wherever she’s been.
She has featured in Edinburgh Festival, Channel’s 4 Colonial House, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Richard and Judy, and Emmerdale.
Said Clare, “How thrilling it is to see the exciting medium of Rep making a comeback- and to be a part of it! To be in this Rep Season in Swanage is very exciting. Rep is so important for the local and the acting community and I can’t wait to support my fellow actors in performing in these much-loved plays.”
Stepping up to the stage at the Mowlem Theatre in Swanage are newcomers…
Peter has stepped off the stage of the most recent Philip Pullman’s theatrical production of The Ruby in the Smoke at the Brighton Fringe Festival to join the cast of Swanage Rep.
After finishing his training in the Drama Studio London, Peter has performed in numerous stage productions. These include Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Southwark Playhouse); Jekyll in Jekyll And Hyde (Vienna’s English Theatre); Smike in The Life And Adventures Of Nicholas Nickleby (nominated for two Off West-End Awards); House Of Sock (Wilton’s Music Hall); and Blue (Park Theatre).
Said Peter Steele, “Rep theatre is a rare and exciting opportunity for an actor. I’m looking forward to the challenge and a wonderful season with Swanage Rep!”
Lottie’s recent ‘big break’ was playing the part in Julia in the UK premiere of Birds of Paradise. She trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Lottie has also had parts from Cecily Cardew in Heartbreak Productions’ UK open-air tour of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’. She is also a Principle Vocalist on Silversea Cruises.
Lottie Johnson said, ‘I am extremely excited and ready for the challenge of working on this inaugural rep season in the beautiful town of Swanage this Summer. Repertory theatre is something I’ve always wanted to experience. I am very grateful that the Mowlem Theatre have decided to revive it.’
Jack is making his professional debut as he takes to the stage at the Mowlem Theatre this August. He has already had extensive training as part of the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club (CUADC). He has also trained within the Royal Centre School of Speech and Drama.
Jack Mosedale said, “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Swanage Rep Company’s 2017 summer season. As an actor I’ve often lamented the decline of Rep Theatre in the UK. To play a small part in bringing it back feels wonderful.”
