This pretty Grade II-listed mid-row cottage is the ideal retreat for all the family. With a pub next door and a stunning garden, this is a true countryside getaway.

Located in the heart of the village of Church Knowle, this Grade II-listed cottage has rustic charm in abundance and sleeps up to eight guests. Enjoy views over the rolling Purbeck Hills from the large lawned garden or wander next door to the pub for a refreshing drink or delicious meal. You’re welcome to bring a dog, and with plenty of walks in the Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve and the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, both two-legged and four-legged creatures will be happy.

With period features throughout, including beamed ceilings, an inglenook fireplace and snuggly bedrooms in the eaves, this cottage has a cosy, welcoming feel. You can settle into the sofa and warm your toes by the wood burner on colder evenings, or relax in the conservatory on warmer days and enjoy the garden views. There is also a games room including a PS3 console and a reading area. You’ll find all four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first and second floors, just mind your head in the eaves. The cottage has a lovely rear garden with a large area of lawn for the kids to play on while you relax on the terrace and enjoy views over the hills. Parking for 2 cars is on the village lane but please note this is not reserved parking.

The property’s location allows you to take full advantage of the local area including, the 11th-century Corfe Castle (1.5 miles) which provides a wealth of history and wonder. Families will love Dorset Adventure Park (2 miles) with its waterpark and mud trail. If you fancy staying close by the village playground is just 45m from the cottage. The coast at Kimmeridge Bay is 3.5 miles away, where you can spend all day snorkelling, swimming and rock-pooling or walk up to Clavell Tower and be rewarded with stunning views over the bay. Studland Beach is located just 5 miles away and is the main sandy beach in the area.

We visited on the recommendation of a friend & weren't at all disappointed. The cottage is very clean/ spacious - 2 very generous doubles on the 1st floor and 2 twins in the roof, with 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet, so ideal for our group of 3 friends. We visited during Storm Isha, so didn't really use the conservatory or garden but it would Read morebe fantastic in the Spring/Summer. Didn't matter to us at all but I would just say that if you feel the cold and it's not the hottest heating system. Hide

Really lovely warm, cosy cottage that we would definitely book again. The grandchildren loved the games room and were sad to leave as were the grownups!!

Beautiful cottage, in a lovely location and well looked after. We really enjoyed our stay. A few snags in regards to the bins from the previous persons who stayed and having to rewash the tableware (cups, plates and cutlery) as they were still dirty but put back in the cupboard. Location is great, garden is lovely and cottage very comfortable. A little rustic in places and we were staying for two nights over a weekend and didn't have enough towels for each person, toilet roll or dishwasher tablets which was a little annoying. We called to ask for the missing towels to be dropped off and they said they would be but weren't.Read more Some small annoyances but overall we really enjoyed the cottage for our girls weekend. The location was perfect for what we wanted. Just a 20 minute drive to lulworth cove and durdle door and Corfe castle and blue pool were a few minutes drive away. Pub next door served good food and service was great - didnt wait long to place order or for food to arrive. A lovely cottage at any time of the year, particularly this Christmas, in a location we know well. Great pub next door and Purbeck is one of our favourite places to visit in the UK. Will definitely come back!

A lovely property with beautiful enclosed garden so safe for kids and dogs. We were two families (total of 4 adults and 4 kids) so house was perfect and enough seating in the conservatory for us to eat evening meals together. The cottage is right next door to a lovely country pub with incredible food. There is a park just up the road and plenty of Read morewalks from the door step. The bedrooms are all well sized. Very clean cottage with all you could need. Pub noise was not a problem. There is however no guaranteed parking. The cottage is well located if you have transport to get to the coast. Otherwise its good for country walks. In this area NT membership is recommended (even for the beach car parks)!. No local shop in village but shops in Corfe nearby. WRead moreould recommend. Hide
