Ideal for a family or a small group, this lovely holiday home is set in an idyllic spot on the Jurassic Coast, perfect for visiting coastal locations including Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury and West Bay, and for exploring the breathtaking Dorset countryside.

Entering this delightful holiday getaway you will find a bright and open lounge which is a perfect space to relax in, with a Smart TV with Netflix and a Bluetooth sound system. You can enjoy a fantastic meal in the open-plan kitchen/diner which overlooks the garden and which has a cosy additional lounge area meaning there’s plenty of space for everybody to unwind. There are also four comfortable bedrooms. Stepping outside, the pretty back garden is split into three areas and features a patio and a charming lawn surrounded by trees.

Just a few hundred metres away is Chesil Beach with its fine dining restaurant, as well as a 16th Century Manor House serving food and drinks, which makes this property all the more a perfect base for a family wanting to enjoy the stunning Dorset coastline. You can enjoy coastal walks to the beautiful West Bay (6 miles), Burton Bradstock (4 miles) and Hive Beach (3.5 miles), with Charmouth (13 miles) and Lyme Regis (16 miles) a little further along. The picturesque village of Abbotsbury (5 miles) is home to a ruined abbey, a swannery and a subtropical garden. Heading inland, you can visit the bustling market town of Dorchester (14.5 miles), famous for its links with Thomas Hardy whose birthplace is in the nearby Higher Bockhampton (17.5 miles). Other local attractions include the Kingston Russell Stone Circle (7 miles), Mapperton House and Gardens (12 miles) and Coney’s Castle (14 miles).

A beautifully presented 4 bedroom property in a fabulous location close to Chesil beach. It was an ideal spot for us to stay with my in laws who are in their 80s as the two downstairs rooms offered them perfect accommodation. The sitting room is very bright and comfortable for relaxing in at the end of the day. We all thought the house was ideal and had a wonderful feel about it. All agreed it was the cleanest of the houses we have ever rented. The house was gorgeous, really well decorated, had everything one might need for one stay and it was very clean. There was plenty of space for us all and we had a great time. The location is perfect, 5 minute walk from the beach and also has 2 great restaurants within walking distance. Would definitely come back again

Lovely house and garden. Have stayed many times and always clean, tidy, plenty of supplies and lovely, very much appreciated, welcome pack to get started with. Added bonus of two downstairs bedrooms and ensuites, so making it perfect for family members with mobility issues regarding stairs.

Beautiful house decorated, furnished and equipped to a high standard with lots of space. Very good beach bar/restaurant at the bottom of the hill and a pub with good food at the top, both recommended. Loved the garden and the beautiful views of the sea from both first floor bedrooms in a lovely, quiet location.

The cottage was absolutely fantastic. The facilities provided were superb and the house itself is stunning and well looked after, with more than enough room for a family. If you are unable to drive it's difficult in terms of location, but if you have a car it's close to west bay, beautiful Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

Thought has gone into the property for holiday makers and it was one of the best properties we have stayed in as a family group. The bedrooms were spacious, it had everything you needed. The garden fantastic for our two dogs and with the beach only minutes walk away, that was a bonus. Lovely relaxing week, and the weather was excellent. The garden of the property is a great asset - multiple areas to relax in, and nicely secluded. Some super sunsets to watch from the master bedroom balcony too. Great location for easy access to the local pub with good food and spacious garden. We spent 3 weeks at Shearwater and enjoyed every moment. The house is stunning..beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, very well equipped and a fabulous sun trap garden. Excellent location, just a few minutes walk to the beach, and 2 great places to eat within strolling distance. We would have no hesitation in returning to this wonderful house.

We had the best time. The accommodation was fairly central even though out by the sea. It was beautifully decorated with attention to detail. It was spacious, we all had our own bathrooms, the kitchen was well equipped and the living and dining areas were of a lovely size. Honestly loved the place and would not hesitate in booking again!

Lovely comfortable cottage. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. Great open plan layout perfect for our week away. Weather was kind enough for us to even sit in the beautiful garden. Pet/boot room was great for our 2 little dogs who loved exploring the garden.

This is a great house. Location is brilliant, the beach really is really 3 minutes walk from the front door (small shingle in case it matters). The garden is unusual being divided in three sections so several of you can be by yourself in the same garden. The house is beautiful, and extremely clean and fresh. We had a brilliant holiday as an extended family, and thoroughly enjoyed the generous facilities that the house provides. On returning home our 4 year old grandson cried, and said " But I wanted to go back to the holiday home". And that about sums it up!

We had a wonderful week here at Shearwater. The weather was amazing so the close proximity to the beach was fabulous. If you are a family wanting a simple holiday together its perfect. Bridport was fun for shopping - it has everything you would need whilst you are away. The house was great easy and comfortable to be in although we were 6 not 8. Another fabulous stay at Shearwater! A truly lovely place to holiday ... space in the property, beautiful and large garden which is private and quiet and a few minutes stroll down the hill to the beach. Perfection... well equipped cottage. We love our stays here.

Shearwater is a lovely cottage in a splendid location, ideally placed for a wonderful break. Having the Clubhouse at the end of the road is the icing on the cake.
