Settle into this delightful stone cottage near Langton Matravers, on the Isle of Purbeck peninsula, in Dorset. Take in beautiful views out towards the Jurassic coast from the cosy retreat, which sleeps three guests in two bedrooms, and sits in a quiet, rural position. Walk 1.5 miles down to the South West Coast Path to pick up the long-distance footpath, to look for fossils or to swim from Dancing Ledge.

Enter the welcoming Grade II-listed cottage, which dates back to the 18th century and has flagstone floors, to find yourselves in a bright, inviting lounge. Relax on the soft seating in here, light the open fire and find a Netflix film on the TV. Enjoy preparing tasty meals in the kitchen/diner next door, where you can open the bi-folding doors on to the garden on sunny days or dine by the window. Find an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer here. Follow the hall to the pretty bunk bedroom and the family bathroom, which has a shower over the bath and WC. Follow the stairs, with their rope handrail, up to the first floor, where a delightful twin bedroom is situated. Relax in the lovely garden behind the cottage on warm days. Fire up the BBQ on balmy evenings and have supper in the fresh air. Find parking for one car at the cottage.

Head 3.5 miles into Swanage to spend time in the traditional seaside town and to bask on the sandy beach. Walk along the Victorian pier, buy fish and chips or browse in the shops. Plan a day trip to stunning Studland Bay, 4 miles away, which is known for its golden sands and rolling dunes. Being and old cottage access is not to current standards, how this was all clear in the description of the property and there were no surprises other than the fantastic views

Fantastic location and views, very handy for the bus to Corfe and Swanage if you want a break from driving but there are no local shops. Very clean and ok for two people but it would be very cramped for more than two and you wouldn't be able to sit down for a meal at the kitchen table. Unfortunately the seating is not very comfortable but the beds Read moreare fine. The doorways are low so mind your heads!! Hide

Super period cottage in a stunning location. Great location for walking or as a base for touring the Jurassic coastline. Good local pubs and less that 4 miles from Corfe Castle or Swanage. Well equipped cottage with helpful and friendly neighbours.

Warm cottage but much smaller than appears in photos. Hob very difficult to operate. Cottage okay but we had a few issues and would not return.

There are lots of really interesting things to see and places to go in this area. I left a written sheet of comments about the property in the cottage.

Highly recommended. This is a charming and well-equipped cottage with beautiful views across the countryside. There is excellent storage in the bedrooms and the size was perfect for us (one adult and two children) but would also work for a family of 4. The only minor downsides were that the off-road parking space is on a fast road (not ideal for kiRead moreds getting in and out of the car), lack of front door access created some issues for takeaway delivery, and living room seating could be better. Cottage was full of character. Proximity to bus stop and excellent bus service were a real bonus. The location is high and exposed, but stayed warm and cozy - even in the teeth of 45mph gales!

The cottage was smaller than the photos implied and not suitable for 4 adults. Very clean and with comfortable beds. Agood location with lovely country and coastal walks and easy access to many interesting places. Very friendly and informative neighbours and Mary the housekeeper was very helpful.

Great location for walks. Stunning coastline. Cottage only big enough for two. Kitchen well equipped but lounge seating poor. Nearest pub 1 mile across field. Nearest supermarket in Swanage

The cottage was set in an idyllic location, nestled in National Trust land with beautiful views across the fields. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the garden and sitting in front of the fire in the evenings. We were happy to be able to leave the car to go on walks straight from the cottage over to the coast and brilliant local pubs.Read more The cottage itself was very nicely presented, it was comfy, clean and I would recommend it highly!
