Take in the magnificent views from this 200-year-old stone cottage in Worth Matravers, on the Isle of Purbeck. Wander down to the Jurassic Coast, with its far-reaching seascapes, or head into the lively seaside town of Swanage, 3.5 miles away, with its sandy beach. Up to nine guests can stay at this four-bedroom holiday home, which has a beautiful garden for children to play in.

Enter this enticing home to unwind in the airy lounge, which has French doors on to the garden. Light the wood burner on chilly nights; watch TV or wander into the smaller lounge to play a game. Prepare holiday meals in the galley-style kitchen, with its electric oven and hob, then serve up in the dining room. Find a microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer in the utility area. Discover one of your bedrooms, with a double bed, is also on the ground floor, together with a shower room, with WC and handbasin. Follow the narrow, cottage-style staircase upstairs to three more bedrooms: these include one with a king-size bed, sea views and an en-suite bathroom, with a shower over the bath and WC. Another has a double bed, with access from one side only, and the third features bunks and a single bed. There is also a family bathroom, with WC and shower over the bath. Spill outside on sunny days to dine on the terrace or watch the children on the trampoline. Find parking for three cars.

Head into Swanage to choose from a selection of cafes and restaurants when you want to dine out. Catch a steam train from here to Corfe Castle, 6 miles away, to see the ruins, then head back for an ice cream on the Victorian pier. Alternatively, plan a day out to picturesque Lulworth Cove, 16 miles from your base.

A really gorgeous cottage, a dream home. It is very homely, full of character and original charm, it rambles in a lovely way but is very nicely appointed, beautifully decorated and much more spacious than we expected. There's a wonderful dining room with log burner fit for a feast and a huge living room that gives onto a lovely garden. And... the vRead moreiews are simply spectacular. The village is picture perfect (do not miss the pub under any circumstances), as is the fabulous coastal countryside. Hide

Lovely comfortable and well equipped cottage in an excellent location if you enjoy views of the sea and good walking options. If that isn't your thing then the cottage may be a bit remote for you as it's a bit of a drive to many of the Historic Houses (Corfe Castle excepted) and shops. Unlike some cottages that claim to house 9 people but only haveRead more chairs, plates etc for 4 this place really can manage that number in comfort. Hide

Speedwell Cottage was an absolutely stunning cottage with the most surreal views of the sea! The cottage was huge with lots of space and it was very very well kept. Perfect stay for friends and I over the weekend, and the town is so lovely. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful house in a wonderful village. It was a very cold weekend with bitter winds outside, but the log fire and the good heating made up all warm and cosy.

Charming characterful cottage in a lovely location for coastal activities, especially walking. Very comfortable beds and bathrooms. Rather quirky kitchen layout due to the age of the building but workable nonetheless. Excellent for a family holiday as plenty of kids' entertainment, well equipped with toys and opposite the playground.
