Surrounded by seemingly endless countryside, you will love the fact that this stunning cabin hideaway is actually only 1 mile from the historic town of Shaftesbury. Hidden away in a wooded copse and overlooking beautiful fields, it truly is a delight and perfect for all those looking for relaxation and exploration in equal doses. With space for up to two people and one dog, it lends itself perfectly to romantic escapes and solo retreats, where great local food, gorgeous countryside and quaint market towns are the order of the day.

Set within a thirty-acre smallholding, this surprisingly spacious log cabin is accessed via a single step up to the front veranda. Wandering through the enclosed porch with its own seating area, you will enter inside to the main hub of the home – a welcoming lounge framed by exposed beams and featuring comfortable seating and a TV/DVD. Next to this, a charming kitchen/diner will appeal to budding chefs, well-equipped with cooking and dining facilities. Located across one floor, you will also find a bedroom with a small library area and en-suite bathroom.

Outside, the traditional veranda is a dream for sunny mornings and balmy evenings, sipping coffee and enjoying al fresco meals. To the front, there is an enclosed lawn and all around is tranquil countryside, ideal for leisurely strolls. Of course, should you fancy a dose of town vibes, Shaftesbury is only 1 mile away and there all sorts of eateries within 0.5 miles. In the town, a wander along the famous Gold Hill (featured in the Hovis adverts) is a must, as is a trip to Shaftesbury Abbey (0.5 miles). Further afield, you can also drive to Salisbury (21 miles) with its stunning cathedral.

Mixed feelings about this lodge. View from the porch is great and the wild life adds interest. But the property is old and I feel coming to the end of its life. It is interesting and quirky but we did not find it particularly comfortable. The heating boiler has to be left on permanently, this gives off a lot of heat when not required. The oven/ wasRead morehing machine work well and there is a range of pots and pans. We found it hard to control the temperature of the shower. Awkward exit onto busy road Hide

Perfect lodge for a peaceful getaway. Everything we needed was provided. The view from the verandah was stunning and we could have sat there all day admiring the view. Lodge was clean and very well equipped. Would not hesitate to visit again.

The cottage is delightfully located with really beautiful views over the Blackmore Vale. Just minutes from Shaftesbury it is an excellent base for exploring Dorset and Wiltshire. The cottage is well-equipped, and the sitting room and bedroom very comfortable. As dogs are not allowed in either of these rooms (understandably as there are good carpetsRead more) we spent most of our time in the enclosed verandah which was a great place to relax whilst watching the sun set over the distant hills. Really spectacular view, couldn't fault it. The kitchen was well equipped for any sort of home cooking. The owners were wonderful and very accommodating but equally let us be. Plenty of walks nearby.

A quirky, but very comfy cottage. Great location, beautiful views, and wildlife on your doorstep, loved the visiting Roe deer. Yet only a mile from pretty Shaftesbury. Great hosts. A thoroughly relaxing, tranquil location, easy to relax!

We had such a lovely time staying in this beautifully located lodge. Surrounded by nature, yet just a few minutes walk into the little town of Shaftsbury, it was perfect; the best of both worlds. It was really hot when we went so the shade from the surrounding trees was great for our dog, who had plenty of room in the secure garden. The owners of tRead morehe property are just lovely! They had many recommendations of places to visit and places to eat, and those we tried didn't disappoint. Hide

The location of this lodge is perfect if you are looking for a rural getaway. Surrounded by trees, stunning fields of Dorset, yet close to Shaftesbury. The lodge itself was basic. Main issues I had were that there was no heating when I arrived and it turned out, no hot water either. The owner had provided electric heaters to compensate and the weatRead moreher was relatively mild. But with no hot water it was impossible. But they got both fixed by day 2. Cosy, quirky, beautiful views, very convenient location and superbly equipped for dining and self catering. Comfortable and warm for sleeping and a great base for days out. There's a small library containing I think the most interesting and eclectic assortment of books I've ever seen. I loved it.
