This former village bakery is an ideal retreat only 4.5 miles from Weymouth town centre, boasting direct access to fabulous coastal and countryside walking opportunities.

This former village bakery has been lovingly turned into a beautiful property close to some of the best coastal and inland walks that Dorset’s Jurassic Coast has to offer. With enough space for six, plus a dog, this property is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to ditch the car; the local farm shop with tea rooms is within 200 metres of the property and the coast is less than 1 mile on foot.

Entering under the flowered arbour over the front door, you’ll discover characterful accommodation with modern touches. The pretty sitting room has a feature window seat and a wonderful stone fireplace housing the wood burner. The kitchen has a cheerful feel and even has a sofa and TV, ideal for social cooking time before you all gather around the farmhouse dining table. One of the property’s two bathrooms is also downstairs. The first floor is reached up steep narrow tread stairs and is where the three bedrooms can be found: two doubles (one with a sleigh bed) and a twin room. A second bathroom ensures there’s no need to queue in the morning. Outside, a gravelled courtyard garden with a BBQ is perfect for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. On street parking is available outside the property.

Weymouth is 5 miles west and has a host of different activities for the whole family, plus a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants. Don’t miss the Nothe Fort; a Victorian fort housing memorabilia from World War II. Heading east, the dramatic limestone arch Durdle Door is 9.5 miles away by road, or 7.5 miles on the South West Coast Path – well-worth the effort for the stunning views.

  • 3 bedrooms: 2 doubles, 1 twin

Very nice cottage in pretty village with walks from the door (not surprisingly a bit muddy in December). Mostly well equipped for 6 people and very good to have a highchair and and a cot. The wood burning stove in the living room made the evenings cosy and the fireguard was useful (although not secured to the fire surrounds so vigilance is still neRead moreeded with a mobile infant). Worked well for our family Christmas gathering and the Christmas decorations were a bonus. Hide

Finch Cottage was a lovely place to stay. It was clean, comfortable and a great location for us. It was well-equipped, and warm and cosy once we adjusted the heating to suit our needs.

Lovely cottage and village. Really homely and spacious. Nice to have bath towels of a decent size. Was really conveniently placed for all the places we wanted to visit. Lots of places suggested to visit in the suggestions book. Both Andrea and Lee responded quickly to the queries we had. Would recommend for a lovely stay if you want to visit DorsetRead more Hide

A very comfortable cottage with good space for a family. Sound travels easily so would not recommend for light sleepers. Well equipped and excellent location, would stay again.

The cottage was really cosy and beautiful. The kitchen is well equipped and the housekeeper helped us with the problems we had with the microwawe. The downstairs of the cottage was a bit cold, so bring your slippers.

Finch Cottage is really comfortable & cosy, & in a good location for exploring Dorset. Perfect for two of us and a small dog. It was warm & cosy, the woodburner especially was great for chilly evenings. Craig's Farm has a nice cafe & some food but you do need a car to get to shops, though not far to go. Lovely peaceful stay, would visit again.

Good cottage - well located and with good walks. Responsive owner when trying to deal with TV in living room albeit it seems the signal is the main issue. Very enjoyable stay - we were 4 people and a dog so think it would be very tight if more than 4 people,
