  • Relaxing dog friendly base for families and friends with warm, tasteful decor throughout and a wood burner for winter ambience

  • Set in Osmington village, near farm shop and pub other amenities just 5 miles away in Weymouth
Property code: DC053

This former village bakery is an ideal retreat only 4.5 miles from Weymouth town centre, boasting direct access to fabulous coastal and countryside walking opportunities.

This former village bakery has been lovingly turned into a beautiful property close to some of the best coastal and inland walks that Dorset’s Jurassic Coast has to offer. With enough space for six, plus a dog, this property is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to ditch the car; the local farm shop with tea rooms is within 200 metres of the property and the coast is less than 1 mile on foot.

Entering under the flowered arbour over the front door, you’ll discover characterful accommodation with modern touches. The pretty sitting room has a feature window seat and a wonderful stone fireplace housing the wood burner. The kitchen has a cheerful feel and even has a sofa and TV, ideal for social cooking time before you all gather around the farmhouse dining table. One of the property’s two bathrooms is also downstairs. The first floor is reached up steep narrow tread stairs and is where the three bedrooms can be found: two doubles (one with a sleigh bed) and a twin room. A second bathroom ensures there’s no need to queue in the morning. Outside, a gravelled courtyard garden with a BBQ is perfect for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. On street parking is available outside the property.

Weymouth is 5 miles west and has a host of different activities for the whole family, plus a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants. Don’t miss the Nothe Fort; a Victorian fort housing memorabilia from World War II. Heading east, the dramatic limestone arch Durdle Door is 9.5 miles away by road, or 7.5 miles on the South West Coast Path – well-worth the effort for the stunning views.

  • 3 bedrooms: 2 doubles, 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms: 1 downstairs with walk-in shower, WC; 1 upstairs with bath with overhead shower, WC

A really lovely cottage on a very pretty lane with easy access to Weymouth. Well equipped throughout. Doorways require some ducking under if you are quite tall, as my family are, but then full height when in the rooms.

We enjoyed our holiday in this lovely cottage. Attractively furnished throughout, spotlessly clean and comfortable beds. Great location in attractive village with lots of walks and close to the coast

A well appointed and comfortable cottage within easy reach of the lovely Dorset coast, places to visit and good pubs. Well equipped kitchen for meals in. The log burner was most welcome!

Very comfy beds and great living areas. We were there with friends celebrating new years and my partner's birthday, and it was perfect. Lovely and clean, great bathrooms, and a really powerful shower. We cooked dinner one night and the kitchen had everything we needed. Lovely stay all round!

The cottage is in an excellent location to access good walks and day trips. The decor is good and furniture is in a reasonable condition. Not enough seating in sitting room for 6 people. It was fine for a week but I would find another cottage in the same area next time

Excellent accommodation only drawback was proximity to main road. You take your life into your hands when exiting Chapel Lane or Church Lane!!

We had a wonderful stay at Finch Cottage and thought the accommodation was lovely and had everything that you could possibly need provided. It was more spacious than some of the photos suggested and had great character and easy location for visiting Weymouth. We would definitely return again.
