Keen walkers and lovers of the great outdoors will adore this charming three-bedroom cottage, which sleeps up to six guests, 1 mile from Wareham in Dorset. Set on the edge of Wareham Forest, it is well-positioned for exploring the picturesque Isle of Purbeck, picking up a stretch of the South West Coast Path and discovering beauty spots, including Lulworth Cove. Spend the day at the beach or messing about on the river at Wareham, where you can hire boats. Return to the attractive home to light the wood burner or enjoy the south-facing garden. Take two happy hounds with you if you choose.

Set within a plot of half an acre and dating back to the 1800s, this former farmworker's cottage is accessed via an unmade track. Up a step, enter to find a hall leading to a utility room, with a shower and WC. Return from days out to unwind in the cosy lounge before a roaring wood burner and watch TV - on summer days, open the French doors to let in the fresh Dorset breeze. Wander through to the kitchen/diner, with its sophisticated country kitchen style, to cook and eat together. And as night falls, climb the stairs to your three bedrooms and family bathroom. Spill out into your generous garden to light the BBQ on warm evenings and play games with the children on the lawn - keep an eye on them as the garden is not enclosed and lookout for a variety of wildlife.

Make your way to the Saxon walled town of Wareham for meals out and to potter in independent shops. Visit the museum here to find out more about the area's fascinating history. Head to Lulworth Cove 12 miles away to marvel at the coastal beauty, visit the dramatic Fossil Forest, and walk 1 mile to the striking limestone arch of Durdle Door.

This house is in a lovely location and despite two nearby properties provided a private, spacious and comfortable holiday home. Easy access to the sites in this part of Dorset, although we stayed at the property most of the time. An excellent (beer) fridge/freezer!

Lovely spacious house on the edge of Wareham forest. Very quiet and peaceful. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Large bathroom upstairs. Ample parking at the front. Perfect location for visiting the area. Wareham particularly good for eating out. A small town full of character. A highly recommended holiday home.

Excellent location for seeing key sights & attractions with the family. Peaceful garden with so much wildlife. Cannot fault the owner who acted immediately on sorting out the washing machine when they discovered it had an issue. Very impressed & likely to return.

East Cottage was an ideal place for a peaceful few days, set in a quiet woodland area which was just what we were looking for. East Cottage is a spacious, comfortable and well-equipped holiday home. The indoor and outdoor toys kept our grandchildren busy for hours and the garden is beautiful - all you can see is trees and fields. The peaceful location of the cottage makes it feel as though it's miles away from anywhere, but it isn't at all. Several beaches are only a shortRead more drive away, as are Monkey World, Farmer Palmers, Wareham and the steam railway to Swanage. We'd definitely stay here again. Hide

The cottage was amazing and spacious for 5 adults, a child, a toddler and 2 dogs. Everyone enjoyed relaxing and playing in the garden. The children enjoyed playing with both inside and outside toys. Plenty of things to do within a 30 minute radius.
