Take a romantic getaway in the beautiful Lyme Regis. This mid-terrace stone cottage has plenty of old-world charm and would be ideal for a couple looking to spend some quality time reconnecting and exploring the Jurassic Coast. You’ll be close to the sea and surrounded by history, both prehistoric and medieval, so historians, anthropologists, beach enthusiasts and hikers will all find plenty to enjoy.
Walk into the cottage to see an open-plan living space, which combines a kitchen, lounge and diner into one room. The decor, exposed beams and electric flame-effect fire all create a homely, timeless feeling, free from the pressures of the modern world – but there is a TV, so you still have 21st-century entertainment. Head upstairs, where you’ll find a double bedroom and a family bathroom. Both of these have sloped ceilings, so do watch your head! The bedroom is comfortable, with wooden finishes and a Velux window, which offers a gorgeous view over the local area. The property has a private courtyard garden with a small seating area, so you can start your day off with a drink in the sunshine or dine outside; further out, there’s a lawn which is shared between all the cottages, perfect for sunbathing or relaxing with a book.
You’ll be staying on the outskirts of Lyme Regis, 1.5 miles from the beach. If you fancy ammonite hunting, take a trip to Lyme Regis Fossil Beach, 2 miles. Other coastal activities include water sports, and you can hire surf boards, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards in Bridport, 8.5 miles away. There’s plenty to try inland, too: you’ll be 5 miles from Coney’s Castle, a fascinating ruin with a twin around a mile away. The walk between them is beautiful and has great views.
