For more recent history, you can visit the 14th-century Old Wardour Castle, 8 miles, which is a partial ruin and very beautiful. If you like hiking and biking, take a trip to the New Forest, 24 miles, where you can enjoy your favourite sports and see the ponies. For supplies, pubs and nice meals out, visit the nearby Shaftesbury (2.5 miles) for everything you need.
