Soak up the sea views from numerous rooms in this charming lodge with characterful vaulted wooden beamed ceilings, a glass-fronted balcony and large patio doors which connect the sociable open-plan living area with the outdoors. This idyllic property overlooking the beach in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the perfect place for a gathering as a group of eight friends or family plus two canine companions for a tranquil getaway.
The upside-down layout of this coastal home means the living space benefits from the best views of the sea. The lounge/kitchen/diner is bright and airy with neutral-toned walls, earthy green and wooden furnishings, plus an elegant beamed ceiling. In front of the glass balcony doors is a cosy seating area with two plump sofas beside the wood burner where you can admire the view any time of day. Behind this is the dining table and a farmhouse-style kitchen with wooden worktops and a sleek breakfast bar on the kitchen island. Also on the first floor are three bedrooms – two of which have glass doors which lead to the balcony, and one has an en-suite. On the ground floor is a super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom and a convenient utility room. As well as the balcony with a rattan furniture set, there is also a sloped grassy garden outside with a patio area and furniture.
Set beside the expansive Chesil Beach is the small village of West Bexington, where you’ll be located. Here, you’ll find a seafront restaurant, a farm shop and the South Dorset Ridgeway trail (all within 0.5 miles), which will take you to Abbotsbury Castle (3 miles) and beyond. Venture onto the Isle of Portland (17.5 miles) or saunter around the 18th-century Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens (4 miles).
