Property code: OC-WY401

Located on a quiet riverside lane, this characterful cottage is close to both Bridport’s thriving town centre and beautiful West Bay. Cosy and pet friendly, it has three bedrooms, a sociable open-plan living space and a large garden – an ideal base for a family of five. Enjoy wonderful mornings exploring the beautiful coastline together, afternoons visiting charming market towns and relaxing evenings around the wood burner.

The whole family will feel at home in this pretty, terraced cottage, which is approached via a narrow lane and overlooks the nearby green meadows and River Asker. Park the car then head inside where a charming, open-plan living space with wooden flooring stretches from the front door to the back. At one end there’s a bay window, a choice of seating, a wood burner and a TV/DVD; the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day out. A contemporary dining suite sits between the lounge and kitchen areas, the latter offering all the essentials of home and giving access to an enclosed courtyard and the ground-floor family bathroom. Once your day is done, head up to the first floor where two bedrooms await – a king-size bedroom which can also be made up as twins if discussed when booking, and a single bedroom with en-suite WC. A steep flight of stairs leads further upwards, where an attic-style room has two single futon beds and a seating area: the perfect chill-out space for children. The property is set back from the lane by a pretty little cottage-style garden, but it’s at the rear that you’ll find space for everyone to let off steam. Beyond the back door, the enclosed courtyard has an outbuilding with room for wetsuits and bikes, and a washing machine and microwave. Further on, you’ll find a large garden with outdoor seating, a BBQ for al fresco feasts and a long lawn where children and their canine companion can play.

The cottage is less than half a mile from the centre of town, where there are shops, bars and eateries to suit all tastes. Venture 1.5 miles in the other direction and you’ll arrive at West Bay, which sits on the South West Coast Path and has two beautiful beaches backed by the dramatic cliffs of the Jurassic Coast.

The location is perfect unfortunately the same cannot be said about the actual cottage and the parking. The garden is lovely but take your own garden furniture as not only is the table and chairs provided dirty they are uncomfortable.

The cottage is ideally situated, five minutes walk from the town centre and with a beautiful river and field at the front. The cottage is functional, maybe a little on the basic side - it was fine for our needs but for a longer stay, it would be nice to have a dishwasher, better quality duvets, a more welcoming utility room (with external doors iRead moren better condition). BUT it's nothing that couldn't be fixed, and overall we did enjoy our stay and would come again to use as a base when visiting our friends in the area. Hide

Wonderful location. Cottage ok but not 4 star. It's old and tired and needs a good deep clean. Sofa terribly uncomfortable.

Absolutely wonderful cottage. The only downside is the parking. There is an allocated parking space but its difficult to get in and out of.

Lovely location, room sizes and garden. Microwave located in an outhouse was an inconvenience when it could easily be housed it the kitchen. Front and back door sticking issues. No TV reception because aerial coax lead had worn loose. Reported to owner but fixed it myself.

We loved the outlook over the Meadow and river while being in the centre of Bridport, and had most things we needed for a comfortable stay. Very good value for money. I can imagine the parking and limited amenities might be off-putting for some (not us).

Terrible experience, stairs carpet worn and slippery and two of our party fell down the stairs, my son got concussion from ridiculously low beams in attic. Beds are cheap, lack of suitable bedding for season (winter quilts on in summer). Poisonous plants for dogs in garden. No hospitality, not even basic tea and biscuits. Made to feel like anRead more inconvenience throughout and owner wasn't even interested about her property causing injuries. A disastrous lane connects to parking which is really barely suitable for driving down and only possible if you have a tiny car and a 360 turning circle on the spot. Nearest parking over 15 minutes away. Suggested parking you would be fined if you stayed at overnight as NPC monitored. TV didn't work, and most dishes unsuitable for a microwave. In all we were rushed to leave because cleaner said she couldn't have time to leave if we didn't leave sooner. We were made to feel like an inconvenience despite paying over 1200 for a week. Hide

Nice clean cottage with comfortable beds. The location was nice - although slightly further out of the centre of town than the writeup had suggested. Very nice place to stay. the only major change required by the owners was the sofas, which were really uncomfortable (hence the 'Acceptable' rating for comfort rather than 'Very Good'!)
