  • Traditional features and a glowing fire for relaxing in style
  • Quirky living space brimming with home comforts
Property code: OC-WY413

As pretty as a postcard both inside and out, this Grade II-listed cottage is located in an ideal position, less than half a mile from all the attractions of Swanage. Enjoy a solo getaway or a couple’s escape, whether you want to spend time at the beach, explore the shops or enjoy a variety of gourmet delights.

This historic stone cottage is nestled among other charming properties and definitely feels like a relaxing retreat, with neutral tones and a pleasing mix of vintage and new furnishings. The open-plan living space has a fresh, coastal vibe, and consists of a kitchen area with everything you’ll need for creating delicious holiday meals, a dining table for two and comfortable seating where you can snuggle up with a book or switch on the TV. The wood-burner-effect electric fire, tucked into the old chimney, will add comforting warmth in the cooler months. When you’re feeling tired, head up the cottage-style stairs (which have narrow-tread steps, so do take care) to find a light and airy king-size bedroom, which has ample storage and an en-suite shower room.

The coastal town of Swanage is set on Dorset’s iconic Jurassic Coast and makes a nostalgic escape at any time of the year. Take long walks along the golden, sandy beach or the stunning coastal path, stroll the Victorian pier or jump on the steam train to visit the ruins of the 1,000-year-old Corfe Castle. Venture into the town’s bistros, sea-view restaurants, traditional pubs and tea rooms, and try local treats including freshly caught seafood, hand-made chocolate and delicious ice cream. Take home special memories in the form of locally made art and craft, and find out more about the history of Swanage in its fascinating Museum and Heritage Centre.

I found the property extremely comfortable and roomy. Close to the beach and shops too. A little loud but that doesnt bother me! A shelf in the shower would be useful! Liked it so much have booked for next year already!
