This quirky destination has historic character and flexible sleeping arrangements for larger groups getting together for a special getaway. It’s in the heart of the action in the traditional seaside resort of Swanage, where everything from lazy beach days to adrenaline-fuelled activities are on offer.
You won’t fail to notice the age of this unusual, three-storey building, which boasts original features such as exposed-stone walls and rustic beams, coupled with steps up and down in various places inside. The kitchen area has plenty of storage space and a range cooker – a definite help in preparing meals for eight. The adjacent dining area offers room for everyone to sit, including bench seating built onto the cottage’s low stone wall. After supper, head down two steps and into the lounge, where a retro-style, curved sofa faces a TV and an atmospheric, ornamental fireplace. One of the king-size bedrooms is also on the ground floor, along with a wet room. The other king-size bedroom is on the first floor, where there’s also a family bathroom, while the bunk-bed room and the triple room are both on the second floor. Spend sunny days and warm evenings in the enclosed garden, where you can grill some freshly caught fish on the BBQ or simply relax with a sundowner on the outdoor furniture.
For anyone who enjoys a tipple in the local, the cottage is set directly opposite a vibrant pub, and it’s less than 0.5 miles from all the attractions of Swanage, including its fabulous beach, Victorian pier and amusements. If you want to get out and about, you can book a day cruise to see the dramatic Jurassic Coast and Old Harry Rocks, hop on the heritage train to Corfe Castle or head to Dorset Adventure Park, 5 miles.
