Full of character, this cosy cottage is set within easy reach of Swanage’s main attractions. Ideal for solo travellers, couples or two friends or relatives travelling together, it’s a great choice at any time of the year, with a wood burner for cooler evenings and a lovely courtyard for summertime drinks and meals.
An abundance of original features, including rustic beams, old flagstones and exposed-stone walls, give this getaway heaps of charm. Step into its atmospheric lounge, where a wood burner offers comforting warmth and the crackle of flames. There’s plenty of seating, plus a Smart TV in case you fancy an evening in with a favourite show. The light-filled kitchen diner has a farmhouse feel, and is equipped for convenient holiday cooking. The cheerful family bathroom is also on this level. When you’re ready for bed, open the door in the lounge to the secret staircase. Narrow, winding and uneven cottage-style stairs take you up to the first floor, where you’ll find two bedrooms, a king-size and a single, both decorated with pale colours and natural textures for a tranquil feel. For a morning cuppa, an evening drink or an al fresco meal, head into the enclosed courtyard and enjoy the sunshine.
Swanage is a nostalgic seaside resort on Dorset’s iconic Jurassic Coast, with plenty on offer both in the town itself and nearby. Within 200 metres of the cottage you can explore the fabulous high street, with an array of cafes and restaurants offering local fare. Just over a mile away, the beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing or long walks on the golden sand, while if you’re feeling more active you can try some water sports, hike the coast path, play golf or take the steam train out to Corfe Castle.
