A former sweet shop, this quirky holiday destination possesses lots of unique features, including steps up and down inside. Come through the porch and you’ll go down three steps into the impressive lounge/diner, where a Purbeck-stone fireplace with a wood-burner-effect electric fire is the focal point. The farmhouse-style dining table seats six and is connected to the kitchen via a handy serving hatch, and the galley kitchen itself is equipped with all the necessities for holiday cooking. On this floor there’s also a shower room, while the family bathroom is on the first floor. Also upstairs are all three bedrooms: a king-size with two Juliet balconies, one with views out to sea, plus a twin room and a single. Please note that the king-size and single beds are both on raised platforms. For a breath of fresh air, make a coffee, pour a drink or pop your meal on a tray and enjoy an al fresco experience in the small courtyard garden.
The welcoming town of Swanage is set on the Jurassic Coast and offers attractions for every age. Beach lovers can build sandcastles, swim or sunbathe, perhaps taking some time to explore the amusements on the prom behind or stroll along the Victorian pier. Try some local produce in the variety of cafes and restaurants, and wander the array of interesting galleries and independent shops. For something different, book a boat trip or jump on the steam train to the atmospheric Corfe Castle.
