A stay in this charming, thatched cottage will certainly be a family holiday to remember, with so many beautiful features throughout, a gorgeous sunroom and plenty to see and do, be it in the rugged Dorset countryside or on the characterful Jurassic Coast.

Upon entering the property, you are welcomed into the hall with its original flagstone floor which leads through to the living room. Here, you'll feel instantly at home with the warming ambience, comfortable sofas, majestic, exposed brick fireplace and wood burner. Spend the evening reading a book cuddled up by the fire or enjoying a family film on the Smart TV. The kitchen reflects the countryside location, with pastel, natural wood and terracotta brick hues creating a place where you’ll enjoy cooking up a feast for all the family. When it comes to serving a meal, take your pick from the dining table in the kitchen, or in the separate dining room which has quirky touches including a rustic table and a large feature fireplace. There is a handy utility room located next to the kitchen, as well as a pantry offering additional storage. Whatever the weather, the conservatory is a great place to gather with views out to the garden. Completing the ground floor is the stylish bathroom where you can sit and recoup in the tiled bathtub or freshen up with a quick shower by pulling the curtain.

Located in the lovely village of South Perrott surrounded by gorgeous countryside, there are walking trails from the doorstep and a shop and pub within 2 miles. For a wider array of eateries, head to Beaminster (3.5 miles) which has a great selection of bistros and pubs. Days out on the coast are also within easy reach, with Lyme Regis and Charmouth (within 14 miles) offering the opportunity to hunt for historic fossils, and also West Bay with its sandy golden stretch which was a filming location for Broadchurch.

Lovely cottage in an accessible location for much of Dorset. Jurassic coast is stunning and we had beautiful weather so were able to enjoy the garden after being out for the day visiting Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach, West Bay and the villages en route. Although on a main road it is quiet at night and the traffic didnt bother us during the day. The bRead moreed was very comfortable and we both slept well. The parking space at the cottage is tight and wouldnt really be suitable for a large car. Hide

Riverside was enjoyable and a good location. The rental company did contact me to say there were 2 maintenance issues which would be sorted out. These were not. The issue with a shower turned out to be very frustrating as sometimes the hand held shower worked and some times it did not. I rang the company back to be told that nothing could be done dRead moreuring our stay about the shower or the light. Cooking on the Aga was very difficult despite instructions. Sadly disappointing as lovely cottage. Hide

The cottage is nicely placed for visiting Somerset National Trust properties as well as Dorset. Poor parking for only one car with a tricky bit of yellow wall in the way of the doors. Some good local dog walks - The Winyards Gap Inn is worth the walk! Fantastic views too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riverside cottage. It has been sensitively and beautifully restored to modern standards, in a lovely area with great local walks and 30 min drive to the coast. We shall definitely be returning.

A lovely week spent in the cottage, found it to be very comfortable and ideally placed for exploring Dorset.Found a couple of lovely walks with our dog,one of which led to the Winyards Gap pub which I would recommend, the climb is challenging but helped by knowing a well earned drink at the other end.Be warned for those that are tall the front door iRead mores hard as I found out more than once.Would certainly visit again. A lovely cottage with excellent facilities. We particularly liked the conservatory, a great place to sit when the weather was raining.
