This charming 18th-century two-bedroom cottage is in the seaside village of Charmouth, just half a mile from a beautiful sandy beach. Surrounded by stunning Dorset countryside, it’s situated at the top of a steep, quiet lane which leads to a small nature reserve. Its proximity to local pubs (150 metres) and shops (400 metres), makes this the perfect escape for couples or families wanting to step back from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

A pretty courtyard garden and an entrance porch lead you into the cottage’s open-plan sitting room, modern kitchen and dining area, with a traditional quarry tiled floor. A comfortable sofa provides the perfect spot to snuggle down in front of the wood burner, if the evenings are getting a little cooler. The Smart TV, stereo and DVD library should keep everyone entertained, too. To the rear of the kitchen, there’s also a handy utility area. Upstairs, discover a welcoming double bedroom with glimpses of the sea in the distance. The twin bedroom enjoys some lovely country views as well – just mind your head in the eaves. There is also a bathroom, with a shower. Outside you’ll find steps leading up to a pretty rear garden with a terrace, lawn and a BBQ. Spectacular views of the rolling countryside make this a wonderful spot to watch the sun go down. Parking is available on the lane.

Charmouth is within Dorset’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and its beach is world renowned for its fossils. Just 2 miles away is the delightful town of Lyme Regis, with its coastal and countryside walks, quaint shopping streets and iconic Cobb harbour. The bustling market town of Bridport is just 7 miles from the cottage. Famous for the quality of its local produce, foodies will be in their element.

A lovely stay for me and twins aged 11. The cottage had most of what we needed, and a lovely big garden for kids to run around in. We were lucky that the weather was great so we spent a lot of time outdoors. Otherwise it may have felt a little bit cramped for say a family of 4, with older kids. Location near beach and village shops was also excelleRead morent, but I think not really suitable for anyone who can't walk easily up the steep hill! Overall, a delightful cottage and would recommend. Hide

Had a lovely week at Hillcott Cottage. Small but quaint. Weather was superb. Being able to sit in the garden for breakfast/early evening a bonus. So too the far reaching views over Charmouth. Visited some old favourites Hive Beach, Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door. Would definitely stay again and could well recommend. Only issue we had was that initially Read moreour check in was to be "pushed back". The check in at 4.30 is quite late anyway.! This was rectified, thankfully, after 5 hour journey. Hide

A very comfortable and well equipped cottage positioned up a steep hill and near to the beach. Ideal for my wife and I. A very good workout walking back up the hill from the beach or the Royal Oak pub. The pub serves very good food. We just walked in around 17.00 without booking and secured one of a limited number of tables, A very nice patio and oRead moreutlook onto a large garden and bathed by the afternoon sun. Nice well equipped cottage. On a very steep lane. Cottage has steps to the garden. So was not a good choice for my elderly Mum.

Lovely cottage with everything we needed. The highlight for us was the garden, which is very big with fantastic views out over the countryside.

Absolutely lovely time in a lovely cottage, very sweet and the garden is gorgeous. The cottage is excellently equipped (a particular treat to try out the air fryer!), cosy and in a great location, close to beach and village centre. The hill is a climb but the views are lovely and walking home helps to offset the holiday ice creams and chips! Thank Read moreyou. Hide

The cottage is good and the rooms nice and fresh and airy, particularly upstairs. Very comfortable. Patio catches sun in summer. White goods and electrical equipment all good and useful. Plenty of cutlery and crockery but somewhat lacking in bowls and containers when self-catering. It was generally clean but some vital bits had been overlooked in tRead morehe bathroom. The hill could be a problem for some. The welcome pack was minimal and we felt it lacked the personal touch of some places we've stayed. Hide
