Step outside from this exquisite thatched cottage to experience the immense beauty of Dorset’s Isle of Purbeck. Sleeping six guests, the charming, three-bedroom hideaway nestles in the tranquil village of Winfrith Newburgh, 3.5 miles from Wool. Beautifully renovated and with a suntrap courtyard garden, it is ideal for guests with four-legged friends in tow.
Wander inside to find character-laden accommodation that has been sympathetically updated. Leave your outerwear in the boot room and meander into the lovely lounge. Light the bioethanol fire on chilly days and flick through the channels on the Smart TV. Settle in the streaming sunshine of the window seat to peruse a few pages of your book. The kitchen/diner has been just as carefully considered. Make a cup of tea here, then sit at the table or unwind in a comfortable chair with a freshly baked scone and a heap of Dorset clotted cream. Open the door to the garden on summer mornings. At the end of each lovely day, climb the stairs to the first floor, where you will find a washing machine and all your peaceful bedrooms. These include a king-size, a double and a twin, with small singles that are ideal for children. Due to the age of the cottage, there are some sloping ceilings, giving restricted head height. The family bathroom is also at this level. Amble out into the garden to bask in the sun and dine under blue skies. There is storage for cycles here. Parking is on the street, subject to availability.
Pack a picnic and head 4 miles down to magnificent Lulworth Cove, where you can paddle, swim and snorkel. The natural limestone arch of Durdle Door is 3 miles from the cottage. Pick up the Jurassic section of the South West Coast Path at either beauty spot.
