Nestled among hedgerows and rolling farmland, this Dorset retreat is a haven for those seeking rural tranquillity. Attached to the owner’s property yet completely private, this converted stone outbuilding has been transformed into a sustainable one-bedroom retreat.

Inside, underfloor heating keeps the home cosy year-round, while renewable energy powers the property. Park under the oak-framed carport and ascend a few steps to the front door. Inside, an open-plan living area combines a contemporary kitchen with a dining suite, where sliding doors lead onto the balcony and garden. The lounge area has comfortable sofas facing a Smart TV, while the elegant king-size bedroom overlooks the countryside and is close to a stylish shower room. Outside, the glass-fronted balcony is furnished with a bistro-style table, ideal for morning coffee or evening drinks. Steps lead down to a fully enclosed lawn and gravel garden with a fire pit, rustic picket fencing, and carefully thought-out planting, all framed by peaceful views across the owner’s land.

The charming village of Thorncombe lies 1.5 miles away, sitting at the crossroads of Dorset, Devon, and Somerset – an excellent base for exploring all three counties. Foodies will love the nearby towns of Beaminster and Lyme Regis (both within 9 miles), home to independent eateries, dog-friendly pubs, and shops stocking local produce. For coastal adventures, head to Charmouth for fossil hunting and access to the South West Coast Path, where you can walk east to Golden Cap, the highest point along this dramatic coastline. Alternatively, venture west along the Jurassic Coast to Lyme Regis (8 miles), renowned for its historic harbour and the iconic Cobb breakwater.

Heres a warm, natural version you could use: We had such a beautiful and peaceful stay exactly what we needed. The lodge was beautifully decorated, incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. Nikki was a wonderful host and gave us some lovely recommendations for local beaches, walks and places to eat. We were evRead moreen given a voucher for free coffees at the village shop, which was such a thoughtful touch and something we really enjoyed. Our dogs also loved their daily greetings from Nikkis dogs, Bertie and Minnie! Hide

A beautiful hidden gem of a lodge with a super outside space for humans and four legged friends. The perfect retreat if you want to escape from it all. Nikki was a great host, nothing was too much trouble and the scones and fresh eggs were a kind and generous touch.
