With a warming wood burner, exposed brickwork and a private patio, this home is a wonderful destination for a rural, romantic retreat. Nestled in the pretty village of Bourton, 3 miles south of the National Trust’s Stourhead, find plenty to explore close to home and enjoy your peaceful location. Sleeping two, whisk your loved one or a friend away and arrive to a delicious welcome pack, a lovely way to be invited into your home from home and to start your holiday with a treat.

The snug open-plan living space is filled with light and character, making it perfect for spending time in after adventures. Fire up the wood burner to keep the chill at bay or open the patio doors for a refreshing breeze whilst you sit a while on the sofa in front of the Smart TV. Stepping over to the kitchen area you should find all you need to rustle up snacks, throw together picnics and to cook up a three-course feast for a romantic date night. Plate up at the table or head outside and dine alfresco on the pretty, private patio. When it’s time to rest your head and get under the covers, the king-size bedroom is a cosy space with a gorgeous bay window overlooking the front of the home. Rise and shine and enjoy an invigorating shower before heading out to explore both close to home and far and wide. There is ample roadside parking.

A 12-mile trip will take you to Longleat Safari Park where animal friends await and guests of any age will have a great day out. Close by, the National Trust owned Stourhead is well-worth a wander to see the Palladian house and gorgeous grounds. Its world-famous landscape garden is home to a lake, temples and grottoes for you to discover as you stroll the day away. Treat yourselves to a night off form the kitchen and enjoy a meal at the local pub where you can also enjoy a cold pint or two or a glass of bubbly.

Fantastic property and great hosts. We have stayed here many times because the property is in a great location and has everything you need. Great walks directly from the property and local pub has a really nice garden and good food. The Old Shop has everything you need to feel instantly relaxed and at home. Really lovely cottage, comfortable, warm and cosy. The cottage decor and facilities are perfect. We felt very welcome and on our arrival the gift waiting for us was really thoughtful and unexpected, a really lovely touch. We would definitly recommend "The Old Shop" and would happily stay again should we visit the area again.

This little Old Shop was absolutely perfect for a weeks holiday with my husband. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need, so well equipped. Its location was perfect for visiting lots of interesting places. Couldnt fault anything.

Well placed to get around Dorset, Devon and Wiltshire. One of the best cottages my wife and I have stayed in. Every thing is of the best quality and is most comfortable. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

The Old Shop is a little gem. It is a really comfortable, cozy cottage with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It was super clean, bright and airy. The courtyard garden is a great space to sit and relax with a drink. There is a great pub for good food within walking distance, also a Spar shop. The cottage was impeccably clean and light and airy. The little garden was very cosy with a table and comfortable chairs. There was a well-cleaned bbq available to use. Perfect property for a relaxing holiday. We keep coming back to stay at the Old Shop as it ticks all the boxes. The property is nice and light and open with all you need for your stay. The Old Shop is so clean and comfortable. Well positioned for Stourhead Gardens, also Hauser & Wirth in Bruton. The Stripey Duck bookshop is a lovely shop with coffee served in Bruton. Shaftesbury is only a short drive away, with picturesque Gold Hill and Park walk. 2 Pubs within a short distance for food, The White Lion in Bourton and The Rose & CRead morerown in Zeals. A very comfortable and well appointed cottage, ideal for a couple.We found it relaxing and cosy while also being spacious. The owner called in on the first day to ensure we had no questions about the appliances ect.We were made to feel welcome and had a lovely week. I will have no hesitation in booking this cottage again.
