A welcoming Dorset retreat for two, this single-storey cottage is an idyllic bolthole for couples. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom property is set on a farm at Winterborne Zelston, 4 miles from Sturminster Marshall and Bere Regis. Wander around the farm to meet the roaming chickens and pick up footpaths heading into the wider countryside. Plan a day out to vibrant Poole (11 miles), perhaps spending the afternoon at Hamworthy Beach (10 miles) before heading back to the cottage. Venture further afield to explore the magnificent Isle of Purbeck, with its glorious scenery. Picnic and swim at charming Lulworth Cove and pause at Durdle Door (both within 15 miles) to see the natural limestone arch. While you are by the sea, pull on your walking boots and stride out along the South West Coast Path. Venture 15 miles into Dorchester to shop, dine out and visit Hardy’s House.
Enter the farm via the electric double gates, then pull up at the cottage. Make your way in via the gate and garden path, then take two steps up to the front door. Find yourselves in the hallway, which leads to the lovely kitchen/diner and the lounge. The stylish kitchen/diner is a perfect place to cook and eat together between adventures. Set the table in here for two when it is time to enjoy a special evening meal. The lounge is an equally appealing space. Stoke up the large wood burner that is set into a wonderful brick fireplace. Settle on the comfortable L-shaped sofa to peruse the channels on the Smart TV. As the stars come out and you feel ready to retire for the night, meander through to your king-size bedroom, which offers generous storage for all your holiday wear. The shower room at the cottage features a double shower where you can refresh yourself each morning before heading out.
Make the most of the garden, which wraps around the cottage. Dine out here on sunny days and share a bottle of fizz on the bench as the sun goes down. Guests are welcome to walk around the farm and picnic in the fields, where there are beautiful views, but are asked not to go into the stables. There are roaming chickens on the farm. Private parking is available.
