With its rustic charm and sunny garden, this cottage in Swanage presents the perfect opportunity for a peaceful Dorset getaway with your loved ones and pet. It’s in a prime location with excellent pubs and shops within 350 metres, and the town’s beautiful sandy beach 1 mile away where you can go for sea swims. With space for up to three guests over two bedrooms, this stone property is excellent for a couple or a small family.

To reach the front door of this sweet holiday home, you’ll ascend three stone steps. The interior is brimming with character, featuring ceiling beams, exposed Purbeck stone walls and a wooden floor. While your partner reads a book in the quaint window seat, you can watch the Smart TV or brew a cuppa in the pretty kitchen. Flagstone floors, cream units and wooden worksurfaces give it that traditional country kitchen look. The cottage was quirky and had a couple of nice touches for our arrival - biscuits for us and the dog. The bedroom was light and airy and the matress firm but comfortable. As the name suggests steps feature throughout the property so don't stay here if you struggle with steep or deep stairs. The outside area was a nice touch for breakfast in the suRead moren. It was a 10 minute walk into the centre of Swanage but there is an Indian restaurant and a lovely fish and chip shop at the end of the road as well as a pub and a shop nearby. From the cottage you can access the many footpaths in the area - bring your walking shoes and explore the stunning scenery at your disposal. Hide

A cosy but compact cottage for a couple. As there is only single glazing there is some traffic noise. 20 minute walk to Swanage town centre. Ideal for dog owners with plenty of walks close by.

We loved our short stay in Little Steppes. The cottage was cosy and well equipped with everything we needed for a self-catering break. The dcor is tasteful and furnishings comfortable. The shower and bath were lovely and the bed firm but comfortable. It is dog-friendly, which is a huge bonus: there is a courtyard garden for late night visits plus aRead more green space at the bottom of the road. There were some nice welcoming touches: tea, coffee, milk and sugar, plus biscuits for us and treats for the dog. Little Steppes is an easy walk (one mile or so) from Swanage town centre. It is in a lovely, quiet area, next door to a church and surrounded by other heritage buildings. The main bus routes run along the bottom of the road, which was terrific for us as we were completing the South West Coast Path walk. A convenience store, two pubs, an Indian restaurant and a chippy are all within very easy walking distance (2-10 mins). Although there is no allocated parking space, we had no trouble parking a few steps away from the cottage. We absolutely loved Little Steppes and didn't want to leave. Thank you. We will book with Original Cottages again. Hide

Lovely cottage, but has different floor levels and low ceiling points, which caught out my tall husband on occasion! Very dog friendly, with wonderful local walks. Its a step into the centre, but the local shop is very good.

The property was comfortable. It was not as clean as it could be (dusty) and even the crockery in cupboards was dusty. Whilst it says parking is available, the road was very busy and on some days i had to park a long way from the property on other roads. It is a more busy road than the details presented. The walk into town was a bit too far for ourRead more liking and we would pick somewhere nearer in future. Small criticisms' and we did enjoy our week in Swanage. Hide

Property was very clean and cosy. However, the kitchen contains equipment you may never use and not things you would. Eg. No vegetable knife, I had to cut an apple with a carving knife, cafetiere too small to make 2 decent cups of coffee, no large glasses. Are 6 Champagne flutes necessary? In the cottage info it said a few extra logs outside the baRead moreck door but there wasn't. Also more can be bought locally......where? We are total strangers to the area. It turns out they the place to buy is about 50 yards away up the road, why not say? Found by pure chance! As the cottage was very well heated, ths wasn't an issue but an observation. I thought the outside area could have looked tidier and the paths cleaner. Why was there a block of wood behind the gate? Had to really push hard to get it open. I've said all of this because you asked! But we did have a very pleasant weekend in a beautiful part of the country. PS. Hope the smoke alarm got fixed Hide

Although the property was lovely we felt that it was beginning to show signs of being a bit tired, particularly the kitchen worktop which was black with mould around the taps, I suspect this is to do with the fact it's a timber worktop which hasn't been properly maintained also the gap between the sink and worktop dribbled black mould. The kitchenRead more smoke detector was also in one of the kitchen drawers which was a little concerning. We did enjoy our stay and 90% of the property was nice it was just the kitchen that let it down. Hide
