Perfect for families and friends exploring the tranquil countryside of Dorset and Somerset, this lovely stone-built getaway has been imaginatively decorated and furnished to provide a fabulous holiday retreat. Set within the grounds of a working livery farm surrounded by 40 acres of breathtaking countryside, the property features exposed stone walls, floor-to-ceiling windows and a delightful garden with beautiful views.

Set in a shared courtyard, this fantastic barn conversion is accessed via a long, shared drive and features a sociable open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The cheerful lounge is a perfect space to settle back, chat about the day or watch a movie, and you can share a fantastic family meal in the characterful light-filled dining area by the windows. The kitchen has a central island and a wide range of equipment, ideal for rustling up all your favourite dishes. The ground floor also has the first of three cosy, fresh and relaxing bedrooms: an inviting double, along with a stylish bathroom with a freestanding bath and separate shower. Sharing a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, two further bedrooms – a light and airy king-size room and a super-king-size room – can be found on the first floor where there are some low ceilings. The enclosed garden offers lovely country views and features a patio and lawn with outdoor furniture, and a BBQ, providing a charming spot for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

The historic market town of Shaftesbury (3 miles) provides a range of great restaurants and pubs, and bustling Gillingham (6 miles) has plenty of shops. Also nearby is the medieval town of Sherborne (14.5 miles), with other local landmarks including Stourhead House (12 miles) and the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (4 miles).

  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

A wonderful stay over Christmas. The cottage is well presented, clean and has everything you could possibly need. Alot of attention to detail has been paid to the design and decoration. We enjoyed some beautiful sunrises and being able to sit outside enjoying some mulled wine by the fire on Christmas Eve made it extra special. We had a great time at Bears Den, the property was clean, maintained to a high standard and well equipped, the location is great for walking with loads of footpaths to explore. We loved the bear references! The hosts were very accommodating and ensured the stay was enjoyable. Thank you.

Great accommodation with everything you would need, had a fire pit and pizza oven area as well as a BBQ. We really enjoyed our week here especially the very inquisitive sheep. The dog had a great time and we were allowed to walk him in the unused paddocks. Really quite and a great week away for the normal craziness of modern life.

A fabulous place to stay in a lovely quiet setting and close to be able to visit all the tourist attractions in Dorset. Would highly recommend for everyone as the owners have thought of every thing you may need for a relaxing holiday.

We had a great stay at Bears den for my Dad's 60th Birthday. The property is beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you need. It's a great location, and has beautiful views of the countryside. Highly recommend to anyone. Thank you x

We cannot say enough good things about this property! It was just stunning, all the lovely bear touches made Im the cottage feel even more special. Everything has been thought about from a lovely welcome hamper to cosy blankets to snuggle under. The views of the horses every morning took our breath away. Bears den is in a lovely quiet location, but with easy access to many attractions to visit and close to shops. We enjoyed our stay, and so did Billy the cockerpoo! Highly recommended and beautifully presented.

We were very impressed when we arrived at the property. Everything was exactly as shown on the website and the setting is beautiful. The owners were welcoming and approachable. Little touches like doggie treats and fresh milk, bread and butter were unexpected but much appreciated. Cleaning products provided so no need to pack the kitchen sink! The Read morearea is ideal for walkers and exploring the local area with wonderful views from Duncliffe Woods and Rushmore Golf Club. Hide

The cottage is a modern conversion of farm buildings. It is situated within existing farm buildings but is quiet and very comfortable. The property is spacious and well equipped. This has been carried out to a high standard. The selection of bears throughout the property was fun and we enjoyed our stay.
