This Grade II listed chocolate box cottage has character in abundance and is ideally placed for touring, with Blandford Forum, Wimborne Minster and the coast all being within reach.

This thatched cobb cottage is full of quintessential English charm, with its thatched roof and myriad original features. Curl up in front of the cosy wood burner or unwind in the immaculate cottage garden. Just along the road is the local village pub, where you can enjoy a pint or meal at the end of a busy day. The surrounding countryside is a haven for walkers. You’ll also be within easy reach of the pretty market town of Blandford Forum (4 miles) and the cathedral city of Salisbury (20.5 miles).

Follow the gravel path to the quaint cottage. At the heart of the home is a warm and inviting lounge/diner. Here, an inglenook fireplace houses a wood burner and the original bread ovens. Elegant beams adorn the ceiling and there’s a round dining table where you can enjoy mealtimes together. From here, steps lead to the cosy study. The country kitchen has everything you need, including a fabulous Rayburn, to create tasty dishes. Due to the age of the property, you’ll find characterful low beams and doorways, as well as split levels and cottage-style stairs leading to the first floor. Outside, discover a charming cottage garden laid to lawn and surrounded by mature hedging. Dine on the patio or relax with a glass of wine on the sun loungers.

The property is located within the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This distinctive landscape has a network of walking and cycling trails running across its chalk grasslands and escarpments. Spend an afternoon pottering around the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum. Stroll along the river, take a brewery tour and pick up some tasty local treats for dinner. For a day at the seaside, head south to Bournemouth (20.5 miles), where you’ll find 7 miles of sandy beaches.

Chocolate box cottage in a chocolate box village. Stunning property inside and out with great attention to detail and comfort. A bonus being dog friendly as is the local pub which is well worth booking a table for a meal. The village seems very friendly too judging by the local residents we spoke too. A perfect place for a getaway.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic village with a great pub/restaurant. The cottage is really peaceful and we made full use of the sunny garden in a balmy week in March. We loved everything about our stay and can't recommend Drongstyle Cottage too highly.

Couldnt have asked for a better property to spend Christmas. My wife and I both fell for the cottage, our 5 year old daughter even more so! Dogs are very welcome and the hard floor in the porch is brilliant after a muddy dog walk. Both James & Steve were really friendly via WhatsApp/email, should you need them. Our first stay in this part of the uk. Was not disappointed, a lovely thatched cottage in the middle of a chocolate box village. The house had all the amenities you could think of. A lovely secluded garden, so peaceful. Within easy driving distance of the coast and beaches. Looking forward to returning.

Drongstyle Cottage was a fantastic period property, which has kept all the traditional styling whilst also providing the modern amenities needed for a family. The garden was secure for our two dogs, and so quiet and peaceful. We felt at home from the second we got there, and would return in a heartbeat.

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
