Self-catering holiday accommodation in Osmington

Osmington is a pretty village just outside Weymouth, with winding lanes dotted with stone cottages and colourful gardens. Nearby is the famous hillside chalk carving of King George III on horseback known as White Horse Hill. Just a mile down the road is the hamlet of Osmington Mills with its rocky coastline and popular family pub. With its rural location and proximity to Weymouth, Osmington provides the best of both worlds for your self-catering holiday in Dorset.

Interestingly, John Constable spent his honeymoon in the area in 1816 and it was at this time that he completed his painting of Weymouth Bay. The painting now hangs in the National Gallery in London. The whole area is very scenic - it has a very pretty approach and boasts spectacular views across the gorgeous Weymouth Bay to Portland. While the shore is wild and rocky so not safe for swimming, it is an interesting place to look for fossils and do a bit of beachcombing.
