Located on a quiet road leading to the sea at West Bay near Bridport and the adjoining crescent shaped beach near the harbour. West Bay has a wealth of things to see and do, and with its working harbour and harbourside cafes, it is a fantastic place to watch the world go by. Or, you could get adventurous and take a trip on one of the local boats to take in a tour or go mackerel fishing and try to catch your dinner!

Parquet floors lead into the dining and kitchen complete with an oven and hob, fridge, washing machine, microwave, freezer and dishwasher area, which offers views of the sea and doors that will lead you out onto the outside terrace combining indoor and outdoor living. Moving through the French doors takes you into a beautiful sun room complete with mosaic tiled flooring, a cosy and snug log burner fire and views of the sea. You can also get to the balcony of the property through another set of French doors that is the perfect place to enjoy watching the sunset and take in the pure sea air. Walking up the winding stairs will lead you to the two bedrooms of the property both of which have views out to the sea and en-suite bathrooms. Both bedrooms have reduced ceiling height due to being in the eaves of the building.

The garden to the front of the property consists of paved paths and raised borders. The rear garden has three levels and a large terraced area bordered by flowers, trees and shrubs - the perfect place for a BBQ during the summer for some alfresco dining.

We felt very comfortable in this attractive and extremely well-equipped house. We were surprised at one or two reviews from a previous year which expressed some dissatisfaction with the standards of cleanliness, as we found everything to be sparklingly clean. The house is well-positioned, being high enough up the hill for the main upstairs bedroom Read moreto offer views across the settlement of West Bay to the countryside beyond, as well as out to sea, but it is also a very short walk downhill to the beach. We visited in wintry weather but the garden and terrace would certainly be very inviting at warmer times of the year. The wood-burning stove makes the conservatory very cosy. Hide

Spacious but homely feel to the property, very well thought-out furnishing in all rooms, making it a very comfortable stay. Cleanliness and general upkeep of the property could not be faulted. The smell of damp was evident on first entering the property. Downstairs bathroom and twin room were very stinky. Cleaning was not spotless ie. hairs, not cleaning behind things, down side if cooker, window sills etc. Overall a great property in a good location.

    Location

Note: As the postcode is used to identify the general area of the property, it may not always reflect its precise location, therefore please only use this map as a guide.

Dorset, a location of enduring popularity is a small rural gem of a county encompassing all of the best parts of rural England: rolling green hills, woodland and hedgerows abundant with flora and fauna running down to the sea yet situated just 3 hours from London and the South East.

The whole coastline from Exmouth to Poole has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Known as the Jurassic Coast, it is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status and offers unspoilt views with dramatic cliff-top walks alongside beautiful, safe, sandy beaches which often welcome your four-legged friends too. From the dramatic natural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland; Dorset has it all.

This South West county is also a treasure trove of secrets waiting to be discovered. Having grown out of the landscape out of the centuries, many of Dorset’s small rural towns expose history at every turn to inform and delight guests, whilst for the more energetic, footpaths and cycle-ways open up to reveal Dorset’s hidden secrets and the coast is always close at hand for those who love the water.

Why not head to Lyme Regis – classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, much like most of West Dorset to uncover an old-world ambience and excellent fossil hunting or discover the drama of Lulworth with the iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.

Dorset’s towns and villages ooze quintessential charm and are graced by fine buildings which have often been immortalised in Thomas Hardy’s books, including Dorchester – his birthplace. Wherever you choose to stay, you are never far from the fascinating Jurassic Coast and World Heritage Coastal Path.
