This cosy former fisherman’s cottage is named after a boat and boasts period features like a thatched roof and thick stone walls. This is a typical country chocolate-box cottage.

Brimming with chocolate box charm both inside and out, this thatched former fisherman’s cottage is a wonderful bolthole for romantic getaways for two or memorable breaks for young families. Inside, find a stunning bespoke kitchen with colourful units, a cosy lounge with an electric wood burner effect heater set into an inglenook fireplace, and two delightful bedrooms. Outside, the pretty cottage garden is the perfect place to enjoy meals alfresco when you’re not dining at the local pub or strolling along the golden beach.

Prepare delicious meals beneath white-washed beams in the stylish kitchen before settling in for a cosy night on the sofa. Or, in warmer weather, step out onto the private courtyard garden and enjoy a peaceful meal in the sunshine. At the end of a long day, rest weary heads in the beautifully-decorated bedrooms situated in the eaves of the cottage. There is parking on the lane nearby.

The picturesque Dorset village of Burton Bradstock is set just back from a wonderful crescent shaped beach. One of the main gateways to the Jurassic Coast, this is an excellent starting point for many walks along the South West Coast Path, which leads to Abbotsbury (7 miles) in the east and West Bay (2 miles) in the west. After a tiring day on foot, refuel at the village pubs or fill your bag with local produce at a nearby farm shop (2.5 miles) and enjoy a tasty meal back at the cottage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We have visited Lerrett Cottage twice now. It's perfectly situated. Close to two very good pubs. Both welcome dogs and do good standard of food and drink. The beach is a pleasant 15 minutes walk away through fields and a country path. There is a Garage nearby that is good for getting re-stocked in the kitchen and a small post-office/farm shop in the village. Both pleasant walks. Hide

We first visited this cottage in April 2019 and loved it, the position, the village, the locality to pub for good food, so close to Bridport for purchases, as well as being so close - a walk away - from the beach and other beaches in area. Our favourite and after 10 years of renting all various different cottages. Hide

A lovely small but perfectly formed cottage. Great location equidistant from both village pubs which were welcoming and served good food. The cottage was very comfortable and tucked down a quiet lane with easy parking on the adjacent Church Lane. Very small property and found it very claustrophobic after a day ! not helped by small windows so had to have lights on all day. This I know is to be expected from a "cottage" but think hard before booking if you feel this might be an issue ! Great location however, walking distance to sea, and lovely walks.

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
