This pretty 18th-century Grade II listed thatched cob cottage makes a perfect base for a family or a couple hoping to enjoy exploring the beautiful coast and idyllic countryside between Weymouth and Dorchester.

This charming 18th century Grade II listed thatched cob cottage, nestled in the peaceful hamlet of Broadmayne, is full of character and traditional touches. Conveniently situated on a minor road leading out of the village, this two-bedroom listed property is ideal for couples or small families in search of a relaxing break. Neighbouring fields offer perfect opportunities for keen walkers to explore the surrounding countryside and, with the local shop, post office and pub 500 metres away, it’s the perfect base for your holiday.

Enter through the stable door to discover a small 50s-style retro kitchen, complete with Belfast sink. Two steps lead down into the slate-floored dining room with an open fire, perfect for warming up on those chillier evenings. Three steps take you up to the bright and welcoming lounge where you and your four-legged friends can curl up on the built-in sofa and make use of the Smart TV and iPod dock. The bathroom, with a shower, is also on this floor. Upstairs, via a steep original oak staircase with rope handle leads, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms – a double, and a single. Adjoining the lounge is a cosy slate-floored conservatory, with French doors leading out onto the beautifully-maintained garden. With a large lawn, borders and a gravelled terrace, this is the perfect spot for a little al fresco dining as the sun sets on a wonderful day. There’s also off-road parking for one car.

Explore the stunning Jurassic coastline, a World Heritage Site, just 4 miles from your door, with the delightful Durdle Door and Ringstead Bay only a few miles away. Dorset’s county town of Dorchester is a short (4-mile) drive away and well worth a visit, boasting some excellent places to eat and some of the area’s leading museums. The delightful seaside town of Weymouth is also 7 miles away, providing a lovely destination for a day trip.

This was a lovely character cottage. Very clean. Very cosy. We didnt use the fire because of the toddler but would have been fantastic. Even so it was lovely and warm. The outdoor space was beautiful - we just didnt get chance to use it because of weather. Would definitely recommend

The bedroom is lovely and the sower is amazing. The cottage is supposed to be dog friendly but really its not to many rules and finally because rained all week theres no where to dry clothing thats adequate.

The cottage was clean and welcoming. It is very quirky and probably not suitable for all due to the extremely steep stair and the irregular steps throughout the cottage. Its situated on a busy road and its quite difficult to see clearly when driving out. Parking was very limited and restricted. The cottage is charming and the garden is lovely. We love the cottage, the interior is well designed by a good carpenter, (the kitchen is built using a 1950s kitchen cabinet as a theme!) The people in the village are friendly, the village shop is very useful. It is a good base for the various coastal attractions. For excersize there is a large field next to it to walk around.

Home from a fantastic long weekend away. Cottage was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. Had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend. About 20 mins drive to ludworth and durdle door. Great local pub about 5 min walk away.

Lovely period cottage in small friendly village. The property is on a main road but this is normally quiet. Make sure you park in the allocated space or there will be hell to pay. Cute little cottage, very well equipped . As back sufferers we were worried about the bed but the mattress was lovely ( bed a bit squeaky when you turned over) right next to a main road which was noisy in the early hours , the rest of the time it didnt bother us as we were at the back of the house . Little Croft is a lovely cottage where the 3 of us had a wonderful time. The cottage is full of character and is finished to a very high standard. The living room looks over the large garden which is an ideal space for an al fresco lunch or playing with your children. The bedrooms are extremely cosy and comfy with top quality linen. The kitchen was very well equipped, unlike other self catering properties weve stayed in, & there were also games and books if you wanted them. The housekeeper contacted us during our stay to check everything was okay and, whilst we never had a problem, I am undoubted she would have addressed it immediately.
