Take time out to relax in this traditional stone cottage, waking up to birdsong and countryside views over the rooftops. Once up and about, stretch your legs with a long walk or cycle ride through beautiful rolling countryside.

A fantastic destination for small families, this characterful cottage sits in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is close to the many beaches of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Sleeping four across two bedrooms, this home from home welcomes a pair of four-legged friends, too. Many of the local beaches welcome stick chasers all year round, including the golden sands at Weymouth (11.5 miles), where canines can scatter pawprints at the Pavilion end of the beach before you all return to cosy up by the wood burner.

Arrive at this humble abode, throw a log on the wood burner which sits in a traditional inglenook fireplace, and snuggle up on the sofa for a cosy night in or a relaxing afternoon post-adventure. For a lively night, fill the lounge with music from the Bluetooth speaker and boogie the night away to your favourite songs. Prepared for rustling up picnics and cooking three-course meals, the galley-style kitchen has all the space you need to gather a couple of chefs and cater for hungry guests. Plate up in the bright sunroom, flooded with natural light from the doors which leads down a step to the courtyard. Perfect for al fresco evenings with sundowner drinks and four-legged stretches, the courtyard is a great spot to while away time at any time of the day. Climb cottage-style stairs to the first floor to rest your head in one of two pretty bedrooms before waking and freshening up in the ground-floor shower room and enjoying breakfast at the breakfast bar. There is off-road parking for two cars opposite the cottage.

Pack up a picnic and enjoy a beach day with all the family at Weymouth Beach (11.5 miles), where you can swim in the sea, chase sticks and have a fun-filled day. Travel a little further away from home and pay one of Dorset’s most iconic beaches a visit, Lulworth Cove, which is 18 miles away. From the horseshoe-shaped bay you can walk 1.5 miles along the clifftops to the majestic natural arch at Durdle Door.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms on the first floor - 1 double and 1 twin

The cottage was fantastic, done to a very high standard and very quaint and set in a beautiful little village. Immaculate throughout and everything you could possibly need. The location was also great for visiting many attractions of Dorset. Just need to note that the bathroom is downstairs and the stairs are very steep.

A delightful cottage that had everything we needed. The kitchen was compact but excellently equipped, comfortable beds and the wood burning stove was about as responsive as a gas fire. Great pub only 20 min walk away and fine walks and landscapes straight from the house. Just the place to take the dog for a lovely walk and relax afterwards.

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
