Pretty cottage sleeping four guests, located within the walls of the Saxon town of Wareham: a picturesque town with its quay, independent shops, and good range of restaurants and cafes.

Fantastically located in the bustling town of Wareham, this period cottage invites you to settle in right away. With local eateries and shops to browse and the golden sands of Swanage just 11 miles from your door, find plenty to keep you entertained before you relax and unwind in style at this humble abode. Sleeping four across two bedrooms, whisk family, friends and a pair of pups away for a break to remember and enjoy spending time both inside and out together.

Step inside and head straight for the characterful lounge where you can sink into the pair of sofas and bask in the heat of the wood burner. Housed in an inglenook fireplace, the wood burner is a lovely feature and is a creature comfort which welcomes you home after chilly adventures in the great outdoors. Equipped for all your culinary needs, the kitchen has refreshing bursts of colour and caters for rustling up picnics, throwing together snacks and cooking three-course meals to enjoy at the table. If the weather calls for a BBQ, make your way outside and enjoy time in the great outdoors in the pretty garden which is set over different levels. After a sizzling banquet, climb steep stairs to the first floor and rest your head in one of two charming bedrooms. Wake from a peaceful night’s sleep and enjoy a soak in the tub or head downstairs to rinse off in the shower. There is a narrow off-road parking space for one car, or roadside parking nearby.

Escape to the sea and travel 11 miles to Swanage bay, a beautiful stretch of sand located on the fantastic Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Tuck into fish and chips, swim in the sea and find dog-friendly spots at Monkey Beach. Visit the quaint village of Corfe Castle and hunt out the National Trust owned castle remains where you can hop on the Purbeck Ridge Walk and take in the views. Closer to home, roam the streets of Wareham and enjoy the town’s atmosphere. When you’re done browsing the shops book a trip down the winding River Frome to Poole Harbour.

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
