Sherbourne (5 miles) is filled with history and fantastic eateries with two imposing castles and a gorgeous abbey which are well worth a visit. Head to the National Trust properties of Barrington Court or Montacute House to take a wander through the varied landscapes, stopping off at their cafes for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Alternatively, head down to the coast to visit Charmouth Beach (24 miles) for a spot of fossil hunting.
