The Porthole at Swanage was brilliant and definitely 5Star. Apartment spotless on arrival and the location was wonderful with everything you need close to hand. Good local restaurants and a reliable bus service to varying places. Strongly recommend - we will be returning.

Wonderful location, quiet yet close to all facilities. We did not use our car at all, enjoying open top buses, steam trains and walking instead.

We stayed here for a week omg we absolutely loved it the apartment the location the cleanliness and was quite lucky with the weather to its a really relaxing property and the views were amazing and shell bay restaurant is fantastic.

The lower path through the gate was a bonus for us but we only found out about it while looking through the previous visitors comments (unless we missed it somewhere in the information pack). An ideal location and with the weather we had, a lovely holiday.

An excellent apartment with a fabulous vista across the bay to the beach and hills beyond and just a short walk to the town. Comfy bed and sofas and amazing views through the porthole! We enjoyed a wonderful February week with lots of super walks. Would certainly recommend Porthole Penthouse

This apartment was very comfortable and warm, as we stayed in late November and needed the heating on! It is located in a block on the waters edge and has stunning views of all around and on a clear day you can see Bournemouth. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION as they say. Couldn't stop looking out of porthole. We were so lucky with weather, so able to use lovely big chairs on terrace which is very private. The bed is so comfortable with good bed linen and towels provided. Hope to come back again. Thank you to the owners.

This was our second stay and the location is just perfect. The property is lovely and we were able to make full use of the balcony this trip. The soft seating is good with one located for shade in the morning and one for the evening! BBQ was very useful. One slightly disappointing aspect was a call before we went to ask for a fan in the property. WRead moree were told there wasn't one as "it doesn't get that hot". It did! If we hadn't taken one we would have been unable to sleep. Hide

We had a fabulous week here, the inside was immaculate, bed really comfy and lovely bathroom. Wonderful position with fabulous views and central to the town where there were several eateries and unusual shops. Rail and bus stations nearby for trips. Lots of walks in the countryside.

Given that the private terrace is seen as a key feature then some TLC to paintwork and slabs should have been undertaken at the beginning of season. With the bell not working having only one key was inconvenient. Crockery needs increasing if dishwasher is preferred but with so little maybe breakages have not been replaced. A light, bright and comfortable apartment directly overlooking the sea. The large balcony is a real bonus .The location could not be better - quiet but just a few minutes walking distance from the town and with easy access to the coast path.
