This Victorian villa is ideally situated for exploring the traditional town of Swanage and the Jurassic Coast. The property has a homely ambience and is great base for a family holiday.

Set within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this coastal cottage comfortably sleeps six guests across three stylish bedrooms. It’s made for holiday getaways to the popular coastal town of Swanage in East Dorset with its sandy beach made for bucket-and-spade fun, and crabbing on the historic pier; and you have the convenience of shops, pubs, and eateries within half a mile, and roadside parking at the front of the property. The magnificent Studland Bay (3.5 miles) is in reach, and you had hop on ferries there for further adventures in Bournemouth and Poole

Head up the path and step inside this charming end-of-terrace Victorian family home. Kick back after a busy day of shopping and exploring in the living room, and catch up on sport on the Smart TV. Cook up a storm in the small though well-equipped kitchen and feast in the dining room. A great night’s sleep awaits in the cosy bedrooms, a magnificent king-size bedroom with a huge bay window and an enviable vanity/dressing area, plus a double bedroom with garden views on the first floor; and a twin with characterful sloping ceilings on the second. And dine alfresco in the sunny enclosed courtyard garden.

Enjoy traditional seaside fun in Swanage from family-friendly amusement arcades and crazy golf to walks on the promenade. Hop on the Swanage Railway (0.5 miles) which steams towards the Isle of Purbeck and Corfe Castle where you can explore the village and castle ruins which inspired author Enid Blyton in the Famous Five books. You can even hike the Purbeck Hills (8.5 miles). Another Blyton favourite is Brownsea Island, a wildlife sanctuary abundant with curious red squirrels. Or discover Durlston Country Park (1.5 miles), the perfect place to learn about conservation and take a leafy walk surrounded by nature.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A great location just 5 minutes walk from the seafront. In a quiet cup-de-sac, with ample space for 4 adults. Swanage is pretty and varied with awesome fish n chips and many quaint antique shops, a lovey beach and great coastal walks - perfect for getting out and about!

The house was very well situated with a supermarket within 5 min walk. The beach & shops are 10 mins walk away. So many amazing beaches within 10 - 15 min drive, lots of things to sRead moreee and do. Main beach not dog friendly but small area is, dog friendly beaches not far away, we loved Shell Beach. Seashell House was a great place to stay - the house is very well- kept and decorated beautifully. We were four guests and a dog and you could easily have more people and not be on top of each other. Beds are super comfortable as well! The location is brilliant with it being a short walk to the high street and beach, and an even shorter one to the Read moresteam train. We have been coming to the area for many years and this was one of the nicest places we have stayed, would highly recommend. Hide

We had a lovely holiday in Swanage. Every thing in the house was new and very clean. The location was perfect and we could walk to the town, beach, shops, steam railway, fantastic playground in just a few minutes. We hope to return some day but it looks like you're fully booked for most of the year!

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
