This charming property, situated just 10 miles from Bridport, is perfect for large families or groups of friends. Sleeping eight across four welcoming bedrooms, this detached old farmhouse is an opportunity to explore both Dorset and Devon’s beautiful coastlines. Picturesque seaside town Charmouth is just 3.5 miles away, while pretty Sidmouth in Devon is only a 17.5-mile drive. And when you’re ready to come home, a cosy lounge awaits you to relax in, where you can curl up in front of the wood burner with a good book.

The property, which is situated down a private drive, is spacious and comfortable. A stunning flagstone hallway leads you off to the lounge and dining room, accessed via steps up and down; the dining room has a traditional feel with a delightful inglenook fireplace and a large dining table made from rich wood. A twin room with seating area on the ground floor is ideal for kids who want their own space; upstairs, three bedrooms have lovely views over the garden. Wake up surrounded by soft, country-style decor and head down to the garden, sipping your morning coffee on the patio while the children play on the climbing frame.

Head out to Lyme Regis (4 miles) for the day, wandering around the famous Cobb Harbour and the Lyme Regis Museum or the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum. There are plenty of pubs, shops and cafes to keep the entire family occupied all day. Further afield, the Beer Heights Light Railway (11.5 miles) takes you on a mile-long trip with views over Lyme Bay to the distant Portland Bill. Take a peaceful stroll around Forde Abbey House or Burrow Farm Gardens (7 miles), both of which have pretty grounds and plenty of features to explore.

The Farmhouse is a lovely home from home in which to spend a holiday. It is in an excellent position, close to the main road accessing the Jurassic Coast, but still feeling away-from-it-all. All the rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and the garden is secluded and private if you are lucky enough to be able to spend some time in there.

Monkton Wylde farmhouse is in an idyllic quiet location, yet not far from the nearest village and from Lyme Regis. There are walks right from the doorstep. All rooms are light and spacious, and there is even a utility area near the front door for muddy boots and equipment cleaning.

Lovely comfortable farmhouse with ample parking for three cars. Very rural location and so peaceful . A car is needed for local shops and pubs. Farmhouse is large and very comfortable and well equipped . There are five different floor levels as due to the slope of the land. Great quirky cottage with number of steps into downstairs rooms as well as up to bedrooms. Rooms warm up well with the heating on, didn't want to use log fires, but could have. Provides good access to various beaches for walks, plus various Independent and National Trust houses and gardens. Dorchester a good county town to visit with easy parking.

As a family we take at least 1 large family holiday a year. This cottage was as near perfect as we have yet experienced. Everyone from the youngest to the oldest was happy with the well equipped and clean cottage. As a bonus we saw deer and birds of pray up close on the grounds. When the toaster broke it was replaced within a couple of days.

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
