Cleverly converted from a former farm building, this charming property boasts a wood burner, eco-credentials, veranda overlooking the paddock and easy access for touring this picturesque county.

Relax on the terrace with a cool drink at this romantic Dorset retreat for two. One of a collection of beautifully converted, barn-style homes in the village of Middlemarsh, known for its chalk Cerne Abbas Giant, it has one bedroom and enjoys picturesque country views. Approximately 6 miles from Sherborne, it makes a great base for exploring Dorset; those staying here can then return after busy days out and relax on the veranda.

Open the front door to this single-storey holiday home to find light-filled accommodation. The heart of the property is its beamed lounge/kitchen/diner, where you can prepare delicious dinners for two and relax together at the end of a long day. Switch on the Smart TV and light the wood burner to bring a cosy glow to the space; set the table inside on colder days or dine out on the terrace when the weather is fine. As night falls, head through to the inviting double bedroom. The shower room, with WC, is also off the hall. Throw open the double doors to let a spring or summer breeze into the open-plan living area or sit out on the covered veranda to take in the beautiful views over the fields. This property comes with off-road parking for two cars. A small stream runs under the veranda and there is a pond across the driveway in the owners’ garden which is bordered with post and rail fencing, please take care with children.

Spend your afternoons in delightful Sherborne, known for its gorgeous architecture, as well as its castles and famous abbey. Browse in the enticing shops, boutiques and galleries here and in Dorchester, 11 miles away. Venture south for days out near the sea. Go for long walks along the Jurassic Coast or enjoy the seaside town appeal of Weymouth, also approximately 20 miles away, with its sandy beach.

A Perfect Winter Retreat Lovely accommodation exactly as described. Lots of kitchen extras left on site was really helpful. Weather was not on our side but the Deers came out to say goodbye as we left. Would Definately return.

As it happened I was the sole person on site, but I loved Tinker Cottage, especially eating out on the verandah. Enjoyed visits to Shaftsbury, Sherborne, Dorchester, Minterne Gardens and the Water Gardens near Weymouth. I could easily find plenty more to do on a return visit.

Just had a lovely few days away here. Lovely quiet location. Very warm and cosy with the underfloor heating. Great outdoor space with the covered veranda.... We even woke up to a deer in the garden one morning! Highly recommended!

A lovely cottage, in a great location. The perfect size for 2 people, and with everything we needed (including a perfect shower). All clean, new and well thought out. The terrace is a nice place for a quiet morning coffee too, overlooking the field. There's a decent pub not even 5 minutes drive, and more places to eat no more than 15 minutes away.
