This eco-friendly former barn is set within a rural village close to historic Sherborne. With both contemporary style and character features, it is the ideal choice for small families wishing to tour.

Book a stay for four at this inviting, barn-style holiday home, near Middlemarsh, 6 miles from the pretty Dorset market town of Sherborne. Set around a shared courtyard but with a private, covered terrace, where you can relax with a cup of tea or glass of wine, this two-bedroom property is well placed for walks and cycle rides through the surrounding scenic countryside. Stroll in the paddock on sunny days or retreat inside when it’s chilly to light the wood burner. See the famous chalk Cerne Abbas Giant, carved into the hill above the village.

Enter this single-storey, rural abode and follow the hall into the bright lounge/kitchen/dining room, with its vaulted ceiling and wooden beams. Settle on the comfortable sofas by a roaring wood burner to watch a film together on the Smart TV. Head to the kitchen area at mealtimes to find everything you need to whip up tasty feasts; then dine together at the farmhouse table. There’s a comfortable king-size bedroom and an inviting twin room. The family bathroom is close by. Open the double doors from the lounge/kitchen/diner on fine days to dine out on the covered veranda, which enjoys rural views. Find parking for two vehicles on the site. A small stream runs under the veranda and there is a pond across the driveway in the owners’ garden which is bordered with post and rail fencing, please take care with children.

Enjoy your proximity to picture-postcard Sherborne, with its castles, abbey and exquisite architecture. Peruse the many independent shops here and dine out. Dorchester, 11 miles away, is also a great place to pick up locally sourced provisions. Visit art galleries and museums and take a stroll around the Iron Age hill fort. Plan a day out down to the spectacular Jurassic Coast, 20 miles away, to go swimming at Osmington Mills and look for fossils.

This warm and cosy property is ideally situated for visiting West Dorset and Somerset. We had a great week exploring the area and saw the local deer and woodland birds right on the doorstep! Everything was superb.

Very comfortable, airy and spacious. Everything we needed. Loved breakfast every morning on the terrace and maybe a glass or two in the evening watching the deer. Well situated for lots of things to do - beautiful gardens, the coast and delightful Sherbourne 10 minutes away

Absolutely perfect! So well-equipped with everything you could possibly want, comfortable beds, good bed linen and spotlessly clean throughout. Great location to explore the area.

I can highly recommend staying here. Peaceful area and the cottage was so clean and comfortable with all the mod cons but lots of character features as well. The deer in the paddock were lovely to see and an added bonus. Hope to return very soon

Great 2-bedroom cottage with covered terrace. High specification and inventory. As the weather was warm during our stay, we did not have an opportunity to light the wood burner or test the underfloor heating, powered by a ground-source heat pump. The owners, who live next door, were very friendly and welcoming.

We had a lovely time away in this holiday home. It was so peaceful and it was well equipped, had everything you needed. We chose the location as it was central to everywhere where we wanted to visit.
