Perfectly situated in the idyllic village of Corfe Castle, this stunning property offers spacious and sumptuous accommodation for a large family or a group looking to relax in comfort and style.

Originally four separate properties including a chapel, this Grade II listed grand country house has been adapted over the centuries to provide extensive accommodation on several levels. The picturesque village of Corfe Castle is home to a variety of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, and surrounds the ruins of a 1,000-year-old castle. The castle offers glorious views across the Purbeck Hills. Nearby attractions include the Purbeck Mineral and Mining Museum (1 mile), the Blue Pool (3 miles), and Kilwood Nature Reserve (5 miles). The coast is within easy reach, with beautiful beaches, quiet coves and delightful villages, including Winspit Quarry (5 miles), Kimmeridge Bay (6 miles) and Lulworth Cove (12 miles). The vibrant seaside town of Swanage (5.5 miles) is famed for its sandy beach, traditional promenade and pier. From the village of Studland, you can catch a ferry to explore the beautiful Brownsea Island.

Entering this fantastic property from the street, you will find a spacious, attractive and elegant triple aspect drawing room. This is an ideal space to relax in, with an open fire, plenty of comfortable seating and floor-to-ceiling arched windows with garden views. You will also find a large dining room seating up to 16 with an additional table available for larger numbers of guests, where you can meet for a celebratory meal. This room features a piano and an open fire set in an impressive 16th century Purbeck stone fireplace. The stylish kitchen/breakfast room features an oak floor, polished Purbeck Stone worktops, an AGA style oven, an additional electric oven, hob, American-style fridge/freezer, ice-maker, washing machine, microwave and dishwasher, plus French doors to the courtyard. The dryer is housed in the utility room. Exploring further, there’s also a cosy snug with a TV/DVD, an extensive selection of videos/DVD's/books/board games, wood burner, an original bread oven in a large beamed inglenook and French doors to the garden. The ground floor has two WCs.

Heading upstairs there’s a spacious gallery landing with seating, a TV and a dolls house (to be used under supervision and at own risk). This area also features a leather-top desk with a printer for guests use. There are six bedrooms. The first is a master suite with a 7’ bed, a round feature window with views of Corfe Castle and an en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. The anteroom to this room provides access to a single bedroom looking out over the courtyard. A staircase leads to a twin room with a peephole window with views over the village, and which has an en-suite shower room with WC. There’s also a double room with an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC, a further twin room set in the attic with views over the Purbeck Hills, and another double room with an en-suite bathroom with bath and WC.

The house surrounds a delightful courtyard with a raised fountain, climbers and shrubs. Off one side of this courtyard is a self-contained three-bedroom cottage which can be booked in conjunction with the house to offer additional accommodation for a further eight guests if required. Behind the house is a terrace where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. The gently sloping gardens provide both formal and informal grounds with a choice of seating areas, including a dining pavilion with a large low-level fire pit and a BBQ. There are extensive lawns, orchards and an enclosed pond, as well as a children’s swing. A roll-top door to the side of the property leads to a large parking area for up to seven cars (one private parking space is reserved for the owner). Children must be supervised in and around the fountain and pond areas.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £1,000 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

There was an improvement in the mugs (some new ones had replaced some of the old chipped ones) and the dish washer drawer had been sorted. The major problems were: the sink is blocking in the downstairs cloakroom (by the snug) and the lack of overhead lighting in the master bedroom.

An absolutely magical place with a garden to die for. It is not the sort of place where everything can be pristine but this is because of its age and character. Note: As the postcode is used to identify the general area of the property, it may not always reflect its precise location, therefore please only use this map as a guide.

Dorset, a location of enduring popularity is a small rural gem of a county encompassing all of the best parts of rural England: rolling green hills, woodland and hedgerows abundant with flora and fauna running down to the sea yet situated just 3 hours from London and the South East.

The whole coastline from Exmouth to Poole has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Known as the Jurassic Coast, it is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status and offers unspoilt views with dramatic cliff-top walks alongside beautiful, safe, sandy beaches which often welcome your four-legged friends too. From the dramatic natural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland; Dorset has it all.

This South West county is also a treasure trove of secrets waiting to be discovered. Having grown out of the landscape out of the centuries, many of Dorset’s small rural towns expose history at every turn to inform and delight guests, whilst for the more energetic, footpaths and cycle-ways open up to reveal Dorset’s hidden secrets and the coast is always close at hand for those who love the water.

Why not head to Lyme Regis – classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, much like most of West Dorset to uncover an old-world ambience and excellent fossil hunting or discover the drama of Lulworth with the iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.

Dorset’s towns and villages ooze quintessential charm and are graced by fine buildings which have often been immortalised in Thomas Hardy’s books, including Dorchester – his birthplace. Wherever you choose to stay, you are never far from the fascinating Jurassic Coast and World Heritage Coastal Path.
