Attractive Grade II listed stone cottage offering sensitively updated period-style accommodation for up to seven guests, situated in the pretty village of Corfe Castle, just a few miles from the Dorset coast.

Perfectly positioned to explore the beaches which dot the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, and the surrounding countryside, this cottage sleeps six across four bedrooms. Great for adventurous families, escape to the quaint village of Corfe Castle and spend sociable evenings in the conservatory, in the garden, or snuggled up by the welcoming wood burner.

Pull up at this home from home, with off-road parking for two cars, and wander inside to settle in. Unpack your provisions in the spacious kitchen/diner where fresh tones and natural light create a calming ambience for cooking. With all you need to rustle up feasts, the kitchen has a dishwasher to help with clearing up post-dinner. Plate up at the table or step up and out to the patio for an al fresco meal with sundowner drinks. From the patio, step up again and onto the lawn where little ones can play to their heart’s content. If there’s a chill in the air or you fancy a quiet evening in front of the TV, fire up the wood burner which sits in a gorgeous, stone fireplace, and settle on the sofa. The perfect spot for a morning mug of coffee or an afternoon of games, head into the conservatory which is brilliantly light and warm on balmy days. With one single bedroom on the ground floor, one on the first floor, and a double and a king-size on the first floor, head to bed in one of four pretty bedrooms to rest your head after long days. Take care on the steep cottage-style stairs and make use of the stairgate if little ones are holidaying with you.

Close to home, head out and visit the magnificent remains of Corfe Castle, less than half a mile from your door. From Corfe Castle, tread the Purbeck Ridgeway walk all the way to Swanage, a hike of 9 miles which winds past Old Harry Rocks. Alternatively, hop on the Swanage Railway from the local station to visit the golden sands and delicious eateries which await. For a refreshing dip in a tidal pool, head to nearby Dancing Ledge (4.5 miles).

The cottage was perfect for our stay. Its really well equipped and very comfortable. The main living room was fairly small but the kitchen has an ample-sized table for more seating. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms a good size. Games compendium was well used. We ate at the Greyhound and Bankes Arms in the village. The Greyhound was slightRead morely better. Wyncott Cottage is a beautiful old cottage in a wonderful location. We love Corfe Castle and have stayed before with our daughter and her family. The cottage was so well equipped there was nothing we couldn't find that we needed and the granddaughters loved the garden with fruit trees. The staircase is quirky as mentioned in another review but withRead more a stairgate olaced outside the single bedroom upstairs it kept the girls (3 and 1) perfectly safe. So much to see and do, enjoy. Hide

Lovely cottage, plenty of space for the three of us. My 12 year old granddaughter adored her bedroom overlooking the garden. The living room is cosy, the kitchen light and airy, bedrooms spacious, and double beds comfy (didn't use single rooms). We enjoyed the large games compendium we found in the sun room. We would definitely stay here again. TheRead more unusual layout of the stairs could perhaps be a problem for elderly people or very young children. Hide

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
