Washingpool Farm Shop is enormous and stocks pretty much every Dorset edible you might need for a luxury foodie self catering break. The farm shop has won numerous awards for it’s excellent standards of fine, locally sourced foods, most recently receiving the coveted Taste of The West Gold Medal. The Farmer’s Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is popular with locals and visitors’ alike. In summer and at peak times booking is strongly recommended by calling 01308 458958. So if you’re staying in one of our lovely west Dorset cottages then a visit to this farm shop is a must to try the finest locally sourced ingredients around.

Modbury Farm Shop, Burton Bradstock

This organic dairy farm, restored from the Shippon (cowshed) Shop, is the only remaining Dorset Farm to make cream in the traditional manner. Try some ‘raw milk’ or stock up on home reared beef, rare breed pork, honey or vegetables.

Chesil Smokery, Bridport

A traditional smokery in Bridport, West Dorset. Taking the finest British produce and smoking gently over oak and peat. They create some delicious smoked fish, meat and poultry using traditional methods to do justice to the fabulous ingredients that are supplied from the most sustainable, ethical sources – local is best where possible.

The Cider Shed, Burton Bradstock

If you like cider, this is the place to go to experience the true Dorset Countryside tradition of taking local cider apples, pressing and brewing – hmmm nectar and wobbly legs!

Bride Valley Farm Shop, Abbotsbury

This is the home of pure-bred Dorset Longhorn Cattle, reared just a couple of miles away on farmland near Littlebredy. Also available at the shop is pork, lamb, poultry and eggs, all from nearby local farms.

This family butchers on East Street is the local’s favourite and regularly has queues of people outside. Walking along East Street you will see the most amazing mural on the side of the shop (a cow, sheep and pig drawn freehand by a local artist).

Samways Fishmongers, West Bay

Supplying the freshest of fish 7 days a week. The morning is always busy with the landing of the fresh fish on the quayside by the local fishermen.

Fresh fish from the West Country and the UK (the salmon is direct from Scotland on an overnight service!).

RJ Balson & Son, Bridport

Britain’s oldest family business founded more than 500 years ago. This traditional butchers will provide you with some amazing products, not only the traditional beef, pork and lamb but other items such as dripping, venison and rabbit and then the more exotic fare of bison, ostrich and kangaroo.

Ford Farm, Litton Cheney

Home to the award winning, world famous Cave Aged Cheddar, Ford Farm really is the ‘Big Cheese’ when it comes to handmade cheese. With many varieties that are available directly from the factory shop, online, or from national and international food outlets, you can be sure that Ford Farm Cheese is the real thing –  Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status being given to many of their cheeses.

Just down the road from our Bridport office, Nina’s fruit and vegetable display adds that extra splash of colour to the high street. Produce is sourced daily from local suppliers and the free range eggs come straight off a farm in Axminster, only a few miles down the road.

Bride Valley Vineyard, Litton Cheney

Where the English Countryside Sparkles! This new vineyard produces three fine sparkling wines; a Blanc de Blancs which is a perfect aperitif, a Brut Reserve, the sparkling wine for all occasions and The Rosé Bella, a taste of The English Summer.

Palmer’s Brewery, Bridport

As well as great beer, Palmer’s (the only thatched brewery in the UK)  is also a great day out.

Black Cow Vodka, Beaminster

A passion for Vodka and the need to diversify brought about Black Cow Vodka. The curds from the milk are used to create the famous Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar Cheese which has been produced by the Barber’s since 1833.  The whey, a by product from this process, is then fermented, distilled and bottled by hand. A really smooth drink that can be ‘drunk until the cows come home’.
