Watersports in Dorset

Dorset is an ideal county for enjoying the pleasures of water-based activity whether it is sailing, diving, surfing, swimming (in lovely isolated coves or by child-friendly beaches) or one of our leisurely Boat Trips for a different perspective of the amazing Jurassic Coast.
Coasteering is now a hugely popular water-based activity, see Dorset’s dramatic coast up close and personal as you climb it, abseil from it and throw yourself off it!
As the location of the 2012 Olympic Sailing, Weymouth & Portland have raised the profile of sailing tuition in Dorset above other locations such as Devon and Cornwall. All levels of ability are catered for along with inspiration from the National Sailing Academy, which trains the elite of the sport.
So if you want to learn to sail, scuba dive, kite-surf, sea kayak or just paddle on the beach, Dorset has the coastline for you. Spend all day out on the water then come home and relax in your Dorset Coastal Cottage.
