Self-catering holiday accommodation in Chideock

Chideock is a small village between Bridport and Lyme Regis. The manor house is mentioned in the Domesday Book and has a long history of ownership by Catholic families, which is manifested in its unusual and quite stunning Romanesque Catholic church. There are two pubs in the village and nearby Seatown is home to an excellent beachside inn with good food and stunning sea views.

Both Chideock and its neighbouring hamlet of Seatown lie in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasting farmland and stunning sea views over rugged cliffs. Hunt for fossils along the beach where there is plenty of opportunity to discover some interesting finds, and discover the interesting history of the village too. Home to the part of the coast that the notorious Chideock Gang, a ring of local smugglers, used to dominate, the local High Golden Cap was actually their lookout post at nearly 620 feet high. The area also contains the ruins of a former royalist castle which was sadly destroyed during the Civil War.
