Immaculately decorated, this contemporary stone house has a luxury finish and room for all the family in a village location – yet is only 4 miles from the coast.

Located in the charming village of Harmans Cross, within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this modern property is close to everything Dorset has to offer and enjoys stunning countryside views towards the Purbeck Hills. The village itself offers basic amenities as well as a station where steam trains from Swanage stop after puffing through the valley. Swanage is only 3.5 miles away and offers a wider range of facilities as well as access to the beautiful Dorset coastline, including a safe and sandy beach. Kids will love Putland Adventure Farm (2 miles), a working farm where they can meet the animals, ride on tractors and enjoy the outdoor playground. Further up the coast – 6 miles from the property – is Studland where you can spot Old Harry Rocks off the coast or explore the Studland and Godlingston Heath National Nature Reserve.

Enter into the hall where there’s space for the whole family to leave their coats and boots. Then step into the open-plan kitchen/dining room which has a triple aspect to maximise the countryside views. The kitchen area is modern and stylish, with a double oven, a hob, a dishwasher, a fridge, a kettle and toaster. Seating at the breakfast bar and a sofa ensure that there’s plenty of opportunity for socialising while cooking. There’s room for everyone at the circular dining table or open the bi-folding doors to the rear patio if you want to dine alfresco. The lounge has contemporary styling with plenty of comfortable sofas to sink into after a busy day exploring the Dorset coastline. Light the wood burner in its stone hearth on chilly nights and flick through channels on the Smart TV. A utility room and a separate cloakroom are handy for large families. When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs to the first floor where four sumptuous bedrooms await: two king-size rooms (one with country views), a twin room and a single room, all with neutral, calming décor. The two king-size rooms boast their own en-suite shower rooms, so there’s no need to queue in the morning. There’s also a family bathroom with a handheld shower attachment.

There’s ample space outside, too, where you can truly enjoy the countryside setting. At the front of the property is a large paved area for off-road parking, while the rear terrace has a large patio and an area of lawn offering panoramic countryside views.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Dorset, a location of enduring popularity is a small rural gem of a county encompassing all of the best parts of rural England: rolling green hills, woodland and hedgerows abundant with flora and fauna running down to the sea yet situated just 3 hours from London and the South East.

The whole coastline from Exmouth to Poole has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Known as the Jurassic Coast, it is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status and offers unspoilt views with dramatic cliff-top walks alongside beautiful, safe, sandy beaches which often welcome your four-legged friends too. From the dramatic natural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland; Dorset has it all.

This South West county is also a treasure trove of secrets waiting to be discovered. Having grown out of the landscape out of the centuries, many of Dorset’s small rural towns expose history at every turn to inform and delight guests, whilst for the more energetic, footpaths and cycle-ways open up to reveal Dorset’s hidden secrets and the coast is always close at hand for those who love the water.

Why not head to Lyme Regis – classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, much like most of West Dorset to uncover an old-world ambience and excellent fossil hunting or discover the drama of Lulworth with the iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.

Dorset’s towns and villages ooze quintessential charm and are graced by fine buildings which have often been immortalised in Thomas Hardy’s books, including Dorchester – his birthplace. Wherever you choose to stay, you are never far from the fascinating Jurassic Coast and World Heritage Coastal Path.
