Sleeping four across two bedrooms, this home also welcomes a pair of pups so you can adventure your days away with all the family.

Step inside and find yourselves in the heart of the home- the open-plan lounge/ kitchen where you can spend plenty of time. Come rain or shine, enjoy communal meals which can be plated up at the dining table which comfortably seats all guests, or step down from the lounge and take dishes outside and bask in the last of the sun as you tuck into an al fresco feast. Before bed, soak in the tub in the family bathroom or rinse away the day in the master bedroom en-suite then rest your head in either the double bedroom or the twin bedroom. After rising and shining, kick start your day with an al fresco coffee or warming mug of tea before heading out to explore. There is ample off-road parking.

For a traditional bucket-and-spade day out, head to Weymouth where designated sections welcome dogs all year round. Paddle in the water, build sandcastles and tuck into fish and chips for a family-friendly trip to the seaside. This is a lovely property, perfect for four people. We also had two boxer dogs with us and they loved the garden. Perfect sized cottage for us and our dog. Garden was dog friendly and fully enclosed which a lot of properties claim to be but our dog manages to escape as soon as he goes into the garden. Watching the wildlife from the garden we saw a pair of Goss Hawks, Deer, Fox, Hares and many other birds. Excellent base for touring the area. Have stayed beforeRead more and will stay again. Hide

A lovely place to stay, immaculately clean and very comfortable, with a south facing private garden to sit out in. Very friendly owners who were helpful and accommodating, and plenty to do with Weymouth and the Jurassic coast on the doorstep. Downsides: a bit of roadnoise (but not too bad). There's no wifi but there is good 4G phone signal.

Cosy exceptionally clean dog friendly cottage. This is our 2nd visit last time we stayed in Sky Lark which we preferred for the open plan layout (dining room was not separate) But thats just personal preference. It was lovely to watch the obligatory Goldfinches quickly work their way through the food on the bird feeder from the lounge. Good encloseRead mored garden which was useful as no direct access to dog walks. Welcome apple cake was much appreciated + tea & coffee. Great stay thanks! Hide

Although it's just three hours from London and the South East, Dorset feels like a world away from the hubbub of the city. This gem of a county offers the very best of rural England: magnificent coastal scenery, vast sandy beaches, rolling hills, charming villages, country pubs, stately homes and medieval castles.

Take time to explore the dramatic and diverse coastline. Stretching 95 miles from East Devon to Poole, the Jurassic Coast has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the only natural phenomenon in England to achieve this status. Here, visitors can uncover Earth's fascinating history whilst enjoying unspoilt views over superb beaches, many of which welcome canine companions too. From the iconic rural rock arch at Durdle Door to the endless sandy expanses of Studland, Dorset has it all.

Why not head to Lyme Regis, classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Like much of West Dorset, it has an old-world ambience and offers excellent fossil hunting opportunities. Or head east to discover the beauty of Lulworth and the vibrant seaside resort of Swanage.

Steeped in history and with a certain quintessential charm, Dorset's glorious countryside is peppered with small towns and villages which are well worth a visit. Many are graced with fine buildings, immortalised in the books of Thomas Hardy, a Dorset-born novelist and poet. For more energetic visitors, footpaths and cycleways reveal the county's hidden secrets with the coast always close at hand for those who love the water.
