Holidays in Sherborne

Self-catering holiday accommodation in Sherborne

Situated near the Dorset border with Somerset, Sherborne is a charming town with so much to offer visitors. The town is brimming with history and heritage, full of beautiful buildings, a magnificent abbey and two castles (one of which is now mainly ruins and one which is a still an impressive castle – both are open to the public and you can find more information in our guide to castles in Dorset).

There’s plenty to see and do in Sherborne on your Dorset break, from great shops, restaurants and attractions as well as a vibrant events calendar and local markets. The Sherborne Town Trail is an excellent way to get your bearing and will guide you around the main sites. Head for the hexagonal conduit at the bottom of South Street and take a photo on your phone or download and print the map in advance.

Classical music lovers can be serenaded at one of the many concerts and performances held at Sherborne Abbey throughout the year. The annual Abbey Festival, International Film Festival and Literary Festival are three events not to be missed!

For history lovers, Sherborne also has a small but very interesting museum which houses early photographs and drawings on the town and local area. There’s also dedicated displays on the abbey and two castles so worth popping into!

Our Sherborne holiday cottages are perfectly positioned for enjoying the delights of both Dorset and Somerset. You might prefer a self-catering retreat just for two, a dog-friendly cottage for any four-legged members, or a larger holiday home for the whole family. Whatever type of holiday accommodation you are looking for, we can help! Browse through our collection online today and start counting down the days until your next Dorset adventure.
